13th March 2006 - The Interview With ANW Owner: John Woodmore by ANW
Interview With:
JOHN WOODMORE
Conducted by ANWRESTLING.com
ANW: John, you requested this interview to take place to help clear up some of the internet rumours and hype the up coming events.
JOHN: I sure did and I can’t wait to get stuck into all the interesting questions that the general public have put together.
ANW: Well lets get stuck into it. The first question is from one of our very own online staff.
ANW INFO:
Q: Will ANW be looking at TV time of any description in the future?
JOHN:
A: Yes it will and we already have. I had the go ahead from Channel 31 to produce ‘Monday Night Action’ every Monday night on the station at 10:30pm for half hour. We had since cancelled the contract that was being written up by the station, as we don’t think it’s a good move to start off with. We want to build our product up to the point our fans can’t make it to our shows or get turned away from the door and we have no choice but to put it on TV. But the plate is definitely still on the table!
SAMOA JOE:
Q: Will John be at the first show? If so, will he be onscreen or a member of the audience?
JOHN:
A: I will be in attendance and will not be taking an onscreen role with Australian National Wrestling. However at the beginning I will make my way to the ring to welcome our fans to the event.
ANW SOLDIER:
Q: Will ANW be having international Indy guests to wrestle on ANW events like a few other Aussie feds have?
JOHN:
A: Yes we will be. The event at the ICE HOUSE in Mt. Gambier is meant to be the second date of a 2 date mini tour that will headline an international wrestler. At this point we still on having this guest but wont release any names just yet.
EXIT:
Q: With all due respect Didn't Ben Johns do the exact same thing this time last year? (An interview to prove that Blake Mitchell is no longer running XAW and he is?), and weren’t those claims were later proven to be false? (Meaning Ben Johns running XAW was just an Angle/Storyline and Blake was in charge for the first few shows at least to a degree)
JOHN:
A: I don’t have a good history of XAW or what was involved with it. I know Blake from outside of wrestling as he was a former co-worker of mine well over a year ago, but he never really discussed XAW on a large scale.
Probably the biggest rumour running around at the moment is that I am Blake Mitchell. John Woodmore and Blake Mitchell are the same person.
I don’t know what to say, I’ve already tried to prove the fact that we are different people, so I guess you will have to come down to Fowlers Live on April 28th to find out for yourself.
THE GREATEST:
Q: Will ANW tour around Australia with it’s events?
JOHN:
A: That is exactly the reason I put the word ‘national’ in the name of the promotion. I do have plans to take Australian National Wrestling all over Australia, but at this point in time we don’t see a great need for more wrestling in Victoria or New South Wales. They have several strong and entertaining promotions over there.
We are keeping our eyes wide open on this one as when the opportunity arrives and the fans ask for it, we will venture off to other parts of this beautiful country.
Another reasons for us to be a national company is that we wont only be targeting our product at capital cities, but we wish to take on a lot of rural areas for our events throughout the next 12 months.
MICKYJ:
Q: Will ANW do what no other wrestling fed has done in Adelaide and have woman’s matches on a regular basis? I know JPW have had the odd match here and there but not every show, this could lead to ANW leading the way in Adelaide in this side of the wrestling industry, plus this may also draw interest form the eastern states where the majority of women’s wrestlers reside.
Will ANW record their shows and sell DVD's of each event there is a large market for this in Australia?
JOHN:
A: Our aim with our project of Australian National Wrestling is to deliver a regular, entertaining product to the wonderful people in this country.
We currently have a few female wrestlers and valets in training from various states that we are keeping a very close eye on.
If the time is right, we would love to bring over Amy Action and some of the wrestlers she has trained as she is a fantastic wrestler herself and I have been told a lot of her past trainees are incredible athletes also.
As for the shows being released on DVD. Yes they most certainly will be. That is a huge part of our merchandise that will not only be creating revenue for us, but is another great way to deliver our product all over the world.
Our DVD releases will have professional editing, with multi angles and various special features. So if you did attend the event, it would be worth purchasing the DVD of that show when available to see the backstage interviews, fights, bloopers and so much more!
Australian National Wrestling wants to deliver top notch, hard hitting, entertaining, family orientated pro wrestling action to the world in the comfort of your very own home!
ANW SOLDIER:
Q: Will ANW work with PWA in the future and have PWA vs. ANW nights?
JOHN:
A: Although we have contacted a few wrestlers in the very early stages on ANW in the past, we wont be working directly with them.
PWA has a very busy and full on schedule with lots of shows, which makes it hard to book, their talent for interstate events, but never say never.
ANW SOLDIER:
Q: Will ANW display their whole shows on ANW's website to give people out of SA a taste of what ANW is all about?
JOHN:
A: ANW will have a weekly online broadcast called Monday Night Action that we hope to start in mid 2006! This will include never before seen interviews, music videos and matches plus loads more!
Monday Night Action will be available to download every week from our website
http://www.anwrestling.com
At this point the show will go for 30 minutes every single week, but stay tuned to our live events and website for more information in the coming months.
DEATH DEALER:
Q: Will there be "Tough Enough" style stuff where promising young talent (and complete idiots) can try to break into the Wrestling World?
JOHN:
A: We haven’t planned for anything like that, but it’s definitely something we could keep in mind for the future.
DEATH DEALER:
Q: Will ANW hold shows in the western suburbs of Adelaide?
JOHN:
A: ANW will be holding shows all over South Australia throughout 2006. Our plan is to head to a lot of rural areas of the state, as well as all areas of the metropolitan area.
We are looking for a good venue in a decent location in the Western suburbs at this point in time for an event in July, but have yet to confirm one. If you have one in mind please email us:
mailto:info@anwrestling.com
DEATH DEALER
Q: Will ANW get new talent from NSW and Qld as well as Victoria?
JOHN:
A: We are currently looking at talent from all over the country and still booking people for all of our events at the moment. Keep checking the website for more people added to our superstars roster.
EXIT:
Q: Will Blake Mitchell be involved, ever in any way, shape or form?
JOHN:
A: Possibly. We haven’t put up signs or signed contracts that any wrestler will never ever work with Australian National Wrestling.
I asked Blake personally to wrestle on the first event on April 28th at Fowlers Live, but he declined the offer due to the politics he believes would follow the booking.
EXIT:
Q: Will ANW (the promotion or wrestlers) be involved with any other SA wrestling promotion?
JOHN:
A: Two of our young wrestlers have been booked to wrestle for the United Wrestling Alliance on April 8th at the Estonian Hall. 200 Jeffcott St, North Adelaide is the address.
Shylock and Joe Mundie will take on each other in a singles match on this event, so you can go and get a first glance before the ANW debut!
EXIT:
Q: Why is my IP blocked?
JOHN:
A: I have no idea and even less idea as to how this question made the interview. Hah!
EXIT:
Q: Will any wrestlers who aren’t Blakeyarders or PCW wrestlers be involved?
JOHN:
A: I’m not exactly sure what a “Blakeyarder†is, so I don’t think I can answer the question properly.
However ANW will have wrestlers from all over the country, so yes we will have talent from promotions other than PCW.
ANW: That’s it John. They are all of the questions that were asked by our forum members, so thank you.
JOHN: No worries at all, I wanted the public, the fans, and the people who might spend their hard earned dollars on our product to have a chance at seeing what we are all about first.
Everything that people spend money on is an investment and I want to make it known that when you pay your $15 that you have a good investment on that night and you won’t leave disappointed.
ANW: Have you got anything else to add John before we finish it up?
JOHN: Give it a go! Australian National Wrestling is nothing but the best in live professional wrestling action that the whole family can enjoy.
We aren’t going through 50 tables every show and breaking our necks with unnecessary moves.
We are giving you everything. ANW will listen to our fans.
Tonight’s interview was a fantastic idea, because I got to hear what the people want and expect from their local wrestling promotion.
You want woman’s wrestling; hell we’ll bring it to you!
You want the DVD’s then hell yeah they’ll be on sale!
You want free wrestling to download? Hell bloody yeah we are gonna give it to YOU!
Ladies and gentlemen I am JOHN WOODMORE AND THIS IS THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN WRESTLING!
ANW: Thank you John. If you would like to contact John with feedback about the interview please feel free to at his direct email address:
