Three players have been offered suspensions from match review officer Michael Christian, while Carlton veteran Dale Thomas has been sent directly to the tribunal after abusing an umpire.
Thomas was charged for abusing boundary umpire Michael Barlow during the third quarter of the Blues’ big loss to Greater Western Sydney on Sunday afternoon.
Thomas is not able to accept an early plea and will head to the tribunal on Tuesday night, with Christian not wanting to detail the specific nature of what was said at his weekly press conference.
Collingwood’s Travis Varcoe, Richmond ruckman Ivan Soldo and Brisbane Lions midfielder Rhys Mathieson will all miss Round 10 after being offered one-match bans, while West Coast accepted the one-match ban handed to Lewis Jetta.
Greater Western Sydney ruckman Shane Mumford has avoided any sanction after kneeing Marc Murphy in the ribs on Sunday.
Murphy was sent to hospital after copping the big hit in the first quarter of the clash between GWS and Carlton.
Sydney Swans co-captain Luke Parker was cited for an elbow to the head of North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell on Saturday night, fined $2000 for the incident.
