Ashwin stopping in his action has not been seen by Jos whose momentum has taken him out..... he wasnt "Gaining an advantage" by being a meter out of his crease when the ball is bowled. he is doing what every cricketer from a junior is taught and that is to walk with the bowler to gain momentum and backing up for a single if its called for...

If Butler is past the crease line his penalty has to be OUT if mankaded
The laws of cricket do not discriminate, mankad is a legit disMissAL
Its akin to speeding and radars- if you dont speed you wont get pinged
Batters wont be mankaded if they dont leave the crease
I have mankaded 2 batters
Both times I didnt appeal-I politely told the batters to be careful[I knew both players quite well, thats why I mankaded]
Like Armchair expert It can be annoying if batters backed up WAY TOO far
Question
The opposition is 9 for
1 ball left
they need 1 to draw 2 to win
your team is fielding
you are the bowler
if you know the batter is backing up too far, would you mankad ?

Ashwin changed his bowling action and delivery point, if you pause it as Ashwin would "normally" have bowled the ball then Butler is, if anything, 2-3cm out of his ground, compared to what we see in international cricket he's hardly taking the piss.
Ashwin's eyebrow pisses me off too.

We are wrong because we don't agree with you? He was out of his crease before the ball was bowled, out in my book, the warning doesn't exist anymore, pretty much like higher standards in society.
Would I have done it: No.
Do I think it's out: Yes.

Trader wrote:I have no issues that a warning wasn't issued.
For mine, the issue comes from the fact that the current law says a batsman can be mankad anytime from when the ball comes into play (when the bowler enters his run up), up until such time that the ball would be expected to be bowled.
For mine, Butler was not trying to gain an unfair advantage, but rather anticipating that Ashwin should have delivered the ball. The word Expected means it doesn't matter that Ashwin stopped his action, it was reasonable for Butler to EXPECT the ball to have been released, and therefore he was allowed to have left his crease.
It's not out in my opinion.

That's the crux of it, Ashwin didn't do what Butler could have reasonably expected him to do. Well worded mate.
