Same here. Last time I saw the father in law he said..... why are you still playing cricket? Simple, I enjoy it. The same reason I umpire a bit of footy, and have a hit of golf when I can.

There are mornings its hard to get out of bed, but I be bloody bored if I didn't do something.

I have a plan for when full contact sports not viable. My goal is 5 more years of gridiron (3 more SA reps), and then play baseball (thinking about winter ball this year) and then motorsport once my body's wrecked. If possible I'll get into racing Hyundai Excels.

Mrs HH3 wouldn't be disappointed if I quit gridiron today. She sees the aftermath on a Sunday.

Who are the two NRL boys who are about to put Jack Watts to shame with their antics in the summer?

Me too.

Something tells me that an end to my days as a footy player are nigh, with repeated hamstring troubles writing last year off.

Already putting plans in place for life after footy. I don't see myself as a coach, so playing something less taxing on the body (golf, lawn bowls) are options to keep the competitive juices flowing.

I believe it may be cocaine, I believe it may be a part of the male anatomy, allegedly, of course.

With regard to Ben Barba , who assaulted his partner in the Townsville Casino on Australia Day after drinking for 7 hours. Citing the assault on his partner (domestic violence) as well as his previous record cocaine, fighting with teammates and other allegations of domestic violence:

His club sacked him on the spot, the NRL have imposed a life ban, the English Super League have said they will honor the ban.

I need to know if an AFL player did that, would the AFL and the club be as strong?

I think the club and the governing body have sent out a strong message which is to be commended.

My plan is to hopefully play cricket until I'm 40-42; long enough for one or two of my nephews to play with me.

I've played a handful of games of footy each year for the past few years, just to help out with numbers. I couldn't be a full-time footballer these days.

I got to play A Grade with my two step-sons, won two flags with one of them, scored a B Grade century while batting with my youngest step-son and played.
Then last season I played one game for the year, it was with my daughter and son who were 14 & 12 at the time, I got to bat with both of them, we lost but I managed 94, son took 3/22 off 7 overs and the daughter got their best batsmen out, I'm happy enough to go out on that note and never play again.

Played in a senior cricket premiership with my son about 5 years ago. I have played at higher levels than this, but that day was the absolute highlight of my cricket career.

I've been fortunate enough to have been involved in at least 15 premierships as a player, coach or both over time, the cricket Gods have been very kind to me.

I have a few premierships to reflect on (both as player & coach) but the one playing with my son is by far the best of the lot.

16 years of senior sport at the age of 30.

Two losing grand finals (the last two seasons) is all I have to show for it.

A few individual awards along the way, but they mean f**k all when you don't win the last game of the season.

Won a few junior footy premierships, but never a senior one (I don't count pre-season night stuff).

Took me about 15 years of cricket to get my first, and then they all came in bit of a rush, then a dry spell of 10 years before the last one.

Played in a few golf pennant wins along the way too.

Persistence will pay off HH.

Ive been playing cricket since I was 8, 40 years on and Ive played at least one game every season to keep the streak going, played with my No. 1 son a couple of years back and now waiting for the 12yo to be able to have a hit in senior cricket so I can do it with him, just like I did with my old man when I was a kid.

Its hard to put to words but it was a special day.
