andrew johns, greatest rugby league player or what?

Not even close IMHO, he's just a great player in an era when there's not many other great players.
I saw heaps of players as good as him all at the same time in the late 80s early 90s.

JUst was so surprised to read the story and hear it from Joey. This and the Owen Wilson show that we all have our own problems, some just have better support mechanisms internally and support structures externally and those who do should thank their lucky F***in' stars they do... I know its true..

So to properly deal with a problem you have to come out on national television and bare your soul? You are surely joking? Do you really believe what you are saying?

Do you honestly beleive that Andrew Johns would have admitted his problem had he not been caught? He has done what exactly so far to combat his problem? So what if he came out and admitted his problem on TV. It is a personal issue and is not the business of the public. Ben Cousins chose to deal with it in his own way and just because he decided not to publicise his case and he has decided that staying out of the media (despite the fact the media has gone way above and beyond what is acceptable to subject a person to in this case) does not mean he's done a bad thing.

I think Andrew Johns has done himself a big favour doing what he has done. I also have a lot of repect for the way Ben Cousins has gone about his situation. He had a problem and has not involved the media and despite the scrutiny has not attackted the media either. Class act IMHO. Yes both guys have made mistakes but he who is without sin cast the first stone.

You don't actually know tho, even tho you are happy to make a big judgement call assuming you are right

Apparently he is bi-polar which is a fair way from a clayton's depression and definitely not a case of "the blues"

Mmmm ..... check out Beyond Blue website ....

Have spent plenty of time on that website, hondo - still stand by what I said, it was my opinion only.

Fair enough then - you sounded a bit casual about what can be a very serious illness but obviously you are more aware of the issue than I first thought

This brings up an interesting point.
Are people sorry they did something wrong or sorry that they got caught doing it?
IMO,the latter.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Unbelievable...

I Dont hear to many people and Media criticising Newcastle even though Joey said that the docters and club and his brother knew about it? While when West Coast knew Ben had a problem they were Selfish, allowed a cheat to keep playing, cared more about results than the person, irresponsible.

Ben got help, Has Joey been away or Seeked help? or does he expect us to believe that because he got caught with 1 pill he is going to stop? Was that his wake up call? is that all it takes? I doubt it...

Modra got it, Johns got it, But what Cousins didnt? Have you ever been to Perth, Seen how they are treated, Criticised, Idolised? They would have been in a very similar position..

I have not heard to many questions from people if Joey is a cheat and used performance enhancing drugs? That seemed to be the Case when Cousins was caught.. Premiership was tainted, he should give his brownlow back, No wonder he can run so hard., how can he have a body like that?? They were all questions asked even though he had never failed a match day test.

I agree the Cousins come back game was a little over the top although i didnt have a problem with it, his fans were giving him a standing ovation for making it back on the field after what you could say was a pretty long 16 weeks for him and the club. It's always the Cheering in the Comeback game that is mentioned but he got roundly Booed the next week in melbourne but no mention was made of that?

Talk about Double Standards from the Media and Supporters

Just because Cousins has not poured his heart on National Tv does not make him any worse than Joey.. Both are dealing with it in their own way and Surely people can respect that...
