- No Vic clubs are getting close to what he wants.
- Chad will stay at Port and now Port have the upper hand in negotiations knowing no other club will stump up the major $ for him in 2020.

Seems that way, although might depend on how next season's draft is viewed compared to this one. High probability this works out well for Ports, but clubs well alerted now that he could be theirs if they can free the necessary cap space in 12 months time.

Next year's draft is always a super draft!

Slight overs for mine right now, but over the 5 year deal will be unders by the end (hopefully).

If it allows Paddy to spend more time forward (prolonging his career) and gets Dixon a chop out, I'm happy.

Heck, might even allow ken to approach a game with a positive mind set. Actually, scrap that, lets keep our dreams realistic...

When you have a ruckman as good as Ryder why would you play Lycett as your number 1 ruckman?
Surely Lycett is only going to give Ryder a spell here and there?

Ryder is 3 times better than Lycett.

He is, but he's also 30 with a suspect achilles and Lycett is a Port Adelaide boy wanting to come home so it all makes sense.

$600k is overs.

What is your price then?

You definitely need another ruckman and Lycett is a good fit but I wouldn’t be playing him as the number 1 ruck if Ryder is fit.

Agreed, but that's only for one, maybe two years tops as Ryder goes into his 30's and that depends on his achilles.

Lycett/Ryder work as a combo, Dixon/Howard/Westhoff ( again, only 1 more year ) as on field back up in case of match day injury, Frampton or Ladhams would potentially be on the outer as Hayes, who did his ACL mid-'18 has big wraps on him but is 4-5 years from AFL football.

Plus if you pay slight overs (which I think Port are) then its a fair chance his current club don't match the offer & you get him for nothing.

Pay slight overs now or give up a second or first round draft pick to lure a ruck in 2 years time. Its a smart tactic IMO.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

The money would have to be good enough to tear him away from a guaranteed No1 ruck spot for at least next year while NicNat is out injured, and a real chance to go Back To Back

And the fact NicNat is very injury prone as well, think however WCE showed their hand by playing Vardy as well who did a very good job.

Be very interesting to see if the Weagles throw Lycett a substantial offer to stay
