OK Top 6 invited to the Medal Count

Toddy Johnstone (Bombers)
Vick (Cove)
Banyer (marion)
B Bayley (M/Vale)
Prescott (Winies)

And can you believe it, can't remember the 6th.

Anyway Johnstone to win by 10+ Votes - no-one to steal sigbificant votes off him - and they won most games as well.

Sorry to the other player invited.

so whens the count ? how does it work ? someone explain? this seem like a weird set up.

as I have said before prescott to win and for the record he was best again for the final against cove (according to the paper) super year from what I have seen.

brighton will win and cove will thump porties - way too classy for the cockle divers!

[quote="AFLflyer"]so whens the count ? how does it work ? someone explain? this seem like a weird set up.

They normally hold it the Monday (17/9) of Grand Final week at South Adelaide. They pre count the votes so they know who has won it, they then invite the top 5/6 from each grade from A's down to U/14's. Then they do a powerpoint presentation of the top 5/6 vote getters. For the A's they do a block of rounds throughout the course of the night with the last few rounds at the end. This is what makes last year stuff up even more farcical seeing as they had the opportunity to spot the mix up of Bachmann's votes prior to the night and as importantly before the messenger asked them who won, hopefully the messenger has kept last years front page, they might be able to re-use it for this years winner...

I'm sure you could get tickets. First point of call would be if you have an allegience to a SFL club, talk to the secretary and i'm sure they would be able to source you some tickets. If not then i would suggest ringing the league, they will sort you out, hopefully they don't give you the wrong date though... Have been known to make the odd mistake or two.

Umpires get it right for a change - Top 6 vote getters I would say all deserve to be there with a shot.

Umpires love Vick & Prescott so probably one of them will win but personally I would like to see the hard working Bayly or the very skillfull Pomeroy win it.

I was told that all players who are invited to the Medal count need to pay $20 to attend the night and if you win your grade they give you your $20 back.

Can anyone tell me if last year Vick had to give the $20 back as well as the medal?

hard games they will be fly. but you'd have to admit they are looking very strong and will take alot of beating!! however not loosing all year could play agianst them - heres hoping anyway!
huge respect if they do go through undefeated though - must be a long time since someones done that!

It's funny because I've heard from players in different clubs, that M.V haven't been as strong as they have in previous years? but they have got players back for finals!

Some names the Emu's have missed this year from previous premierships are: Hill (knee), Pitmann (knee), Zaluski (o/s), Nadilo (o/s). Haven't had these guys pretty well all year, where we have lost these class acts we have gained improvement from the likes of N.Bayly, Howell etc etc... With 2 games to go should be an interesting finish to the year. The core of the team has pretty well been the same for the entire year, not really the players back for finals scenario.

Rumour coming out of the weekend is that the Bombers are looking at a big man (ruckman) for next season from the GSFL. That is surely going to help them for next season as they seem to lack a bit of height.

Would be fair to say the Bombers have struggled in the big man division for the last few years, might be attempting to entice the big Juice man back perhaps...???
