The 3 Sunday games yes
4/5 Saturday games were crackers and even the WB v St Kilda game was a massive turn around
Friday night was also great

5/9 games decided by less than a goal is a decent round IMO

30 years ago, the VFL had 12 teams & the SANFL has 10 teams - there were plenty of one sided games back then too.
The AFL will never reduce team no’s with the billion dollar TV deals & nor should they.

Close games are better than thrashings but not all close games are good. Fremantle v Port two weeks ago was terrible.

The TV deal does rule as Spargo has posted but for me I would rather a smaller comp. And to be a pedant, 30 years ago the VFL had 14 teams.

It’s propping up every club.
North are all but debt free (unlike many other clubs) and don’t rely on pokie revenue sapped from those in the community who can least afford it.

Bet it isn't meaningless to the Adelaide based Kangeroos FC scouts who are commencing their refinement of the relevant SA 2021 AFL draftees, who will be there.

Had a good preliminary look at them in the July 15s carnival (top 400 15s boys in the state) now lets see how the top 40 go against each other at this stage of their development.

I bet the boys and their parents don't think it meaningless either....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

But letting down their home club that may need to win to make finals, there's plenty of other open hours during the week, I'm with Dutchy on this one.

We have one playing in this too. I think its great that they get the opportunity. Usually means they come back a better footballer.

He's still available Saturday hey?

My lads team had a similar experience earlier in the year where 5 of their best players were unavailable due to zone footy, they lost to the bottom side subsequently.

Na I think the game is saturday. Even if its sunday i doubt he would play. More important to play well in the higher level game.
