Good to see couple of former A graders make their return via the B grade over last 2 weeks.
With the likes of Eagleton, Sukkel, Nicholson and Sugg coming back and the injury list stops growing should see us climbing the ladder soon

Problems at the Valley Re not with the coach nor the young playing group who will be very good in the next few years. Internally the club has lost its way. Too many non footy people involved

Even with sides moving to other competitions the divide between top tier and bottom is still significant with little chance of improvement. The quality of footy is still evident in the top tier but with Morphy's in the doldrums with a "coach" and little cattle to work with and the shoes playing one dimensional footy it would appear that there is no team to match Flaggies in nearly all grades. How long will it take for the Flagstaff crew to go searching for a better competition.

Not sure how 9 teams are a problem, we could go to 8 and still be fine - many leagues run with less.

If you can't see that the standard and interest in the SFL has dropped then you probably shouldn't be involved in running a club.

Personal observation and opinion is that crowds are down and the standard has dropped a bit. From a standard perspective B grade has certainly fallen off which indicates that clubs don't have the depth of players they had in past years. So maybe we now have more tier 3 players in A grade than ever before.

Agree with the standard and depth but from the various leagues I have observed this seems to be a common theme in recent years.

Is it a direct result of the points system and the inability of clubs to recruit groups of 5-6+ quality players at a time which increases depth at a club?
Is it just a timing issue with senior more experienced players hanging up the boots and less experienced/developed players coming through?
Are there just less people playing sport in general now, less kids making the transition from junior football to senior football?

It is probably a combination of things but one I believe has also contributed is the trickle down impact from AFL level with the majority of teams implementing full ground zones/presses etc now days across leagues. At the local level where the skill level is lower this makes for ugly congested footy, especially on the smaller grounds.

Still in saying that in the SFL the top 6 at this stage of the year have all been pretty competitive going by the results, with Flaggies obviously the stand out still looking favourites for a three peat.

One dimensional footy? please explain and then enlighten me what dimension do Flagstaff play ? Aldinga ? or any other side .

One Dimensional Footy: Wikipedia Version states: " man on man contested football played by teams that have little understanding of a press or corridor style football, which is normally due to a lack of the coaches ability to formulate" As in what style do flaggies play, from what I've seen so far they press well, own the corridor, have good outside players that run and carry the footy and have more than a Plan A mentality. Hence they're top. Sorry I haven't witnessed Aldinga so I cant comment on their style of play BUT judging by the results so far They don't have a style game plan or press. Just a pretty good BBQ. By the way the main issue raised was with regard to the declining standard of the SFL and all you want to comment on is with regard to Noarlunga !! Maybe a part of the problem

I have to agree with you on the club losing it's way - seems very junior focused.
On a sadder note word has spread that Hank Middleton not in a good way. Know a lot of posters on here would be familiar with his work at association level let alone being long serving trainer at HVFC.

Happy Valley have always been junior focussed hence why such a successful club at senior level as well. But it's when there is a disconnect between juniors and seniors where problems can occur. Similar to the struggles Reynella had back in the 1990's despite having very strong juniors during that period.

Trouble is at the Valley the junior results are slipping also which will have ramifications at senior level in years to come
