Good game at Tigerland. Yank jumped out of the blocks for a two goal lead then the McLarens worked their way into it and by half time were 3 or 4 goals up and Yank just could never peg it back. Great contest for the whole match and bit more skill and run saw McLarens win this game. Tigers pushed them all the way though.

Yank turned an extremely ugly season around in the second half. If they can hold on to Lewis and King, James brothers etc, then they have got a good base to work with for next year.

A very disappointing loss for the Bays, being in the top 5 all year to be knocked out after the final game.
Myponga got off to a good start and were a couple of goals up at quarter time. The second term saw the Bays play the better footy and kicked away to be 4 goals up at half time.
But then in a complete reversal the Mudalarks came out and ran all over the Bays in the third term to put themselves up by 4 goals at 3 quarter time.
The last term saw the Larks hold onto their lead until about the 20 minute mark when the Bays kick 2 or 3 goals staright to pull the marging back to 5 points. Encounter had their opportunity to win the game when Stokes marked on the 50 metre line but played on and ended up turning the ball over. The Larks kicked down to their scoring end and the final siren blew, with the Larks getting up by 5 points.

It would've been a long time since Encounter Bay didn't have a team in any grade make the finals. It would be very disappointing for Bays supporters given the number of quality recruits.

Good call Limb. No doubt you will get a nasty response from FM. He was very protective about his club last week! This years Bay side should have made the finals without a doubt!

What Piffle. The Bays had 18 Rounds to secure their spot in the five and were simply NOT Good enough.
End of Story, NO Excuses.

G'day blokes, had yesterday off - was still in tears...
I tend to agree with JJ here, we had 18 rounds to stitch it up and failed dismally!

Mypo's will get trounced by Strath this week and Im tipping Strath will get as far as a prelim by toppling Compass.

I was surprised that encounter bay lost to myponga over the weekend. At myponga tho its always a tough game.
Strath on the weekend were definitely a test, having peglar in certainly helped there cause but they played some good hard footy. Duffield ujp forward looks dangerous so finally the coach has put him where he does the most damage.
Finals should be great this week. Definitely looking forward to the game at the vale between willunga and mt compass.
sunday between strath and mypo will be hard tro pick, compass is a small oval which will suit mypo more than strath. strath still to get up by but maybe not as much as peopled think.
love finals time!

I also love finals time - Means that cricket season is just around the corner.

Mypo-Sellicks over Strath by 14 pts.

Willunga over Mt.Comp by 38 pts.

I know the GSFL has a rotation system in regards to finals but playing an elimination at Compass is not good. Its a poor oval in terms of slope and you cant park cars all the way around. I think that Myponga will be very happy with the decision. The smaller ground is a big advantage to them as the strath runners wont have as much impact. I still think Strath to win by about six goals and Willunga in a canter over Mt Compass.

Is playing ANY Final at Mt.Compass Good??? Probably Not But An Oval Doesn't Change shape or size from the minor to the major round. If its Good enough to play Minor round Games on then theres no real reason Not to play Finals on it. I Dont think the Crowd size is much of an issue for the minor Finals these days and sometimes even the GF if Willunga and the Creek end up supplying teams for most of the program.

Doesn't the league have access to a completely neutral ground? (Pt Elliot I think)
Apparently it wasn't too bad a deck either, would be some potential in having all GF's there.

I think the system currently in place works well. It's good to see the opportunity to earn valuable catering $$$ gets rotated around. Provided the A Grade is always played on a neutral ground I don't see a problem with leaving it as it is.

I thought one of the worst ovals to play on was McLaren Vale, I don't even think they mowed it the week before! That and the uneven surface made it an injury risk to play on...I think at one stage I tripped on a weed!!! And not the stuff the supporters were smokin!!!

Port Elliot was a good surface FM, a bit spongy at times on the outer side. When the Saints stopped playing there, there was talk that the GSFL would buy it from the Alexandrina Council for the purpose of using it as a finals venue but that never eventuated. At least at McLarens the kids can build sand castles with the beach sand that is put on the cricket pitch!
