agree. The bloke who orchestrated the entire thing (IMO) has failed to front the media. Coward and idiot.

Those two were terribly broken.

However, for those that say it was harsh, I think this is a great day in Australian sport. No longer will we tolerate the pigheadedness and boorish behavior of the Australian cricket team who've lost touch with the Australian values - play hard, play fair.

What's disappointing is that Boof was in charge and now says "we need to be more like NZ". You were in charge Boof, you could've changed it but you've let the team get to this stage. For that, you should go too.

Fair call... and now he has. Boof never kept Warner in line... and that was The standard set in terms of culture.

Australian Tour of South Africa

Postby bennymacca » Thu Mar 29, 2018 10:52 pm

Just watched the presser

Comes across as very naive but is accepting that he could have come more to stop it.

Good on him for fronting the media. Hope he comes back refreshed in a year and is ready to play for Australia again

This will be the making of Smith long term, time is on his side and he has shown that he is prepared to accept his role in all this. Strangely his legacy in 10 years time could be stronger cause of this event.

@Magellan you cheap bastard!

It also comes hot on the heels of hugely emotional media appearances by Smith and Bancroft, who were overcome with sadness and remorse for their part in the drama of the past week. Plus Magellan pulling out of their $20 sponsorship deal for home test matches one year into a three year deal.

Lehmann has now quit as coach. The upcoming fourth test will be his last.

Might as well. Nothing to lose and Starc is mentally not in the right headspace to play.

I'm all for the Chadd's debut but surely this contradicts the selectors call when he was originally left out of the squad.

I'm sure they said Richardson is going as back up to Starc & Cummins & Bird (then Sayers) for Hazelwood. If its Starc out & Chadd in as all reports it makes them look proper silly.

Anyways go get em Chadd, I cant wait to watch.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

It’s been known and documented that Smith never wanted Sayers in. This all started last summer

Smith Dislikes Sayers and Maxwell how ironic that the first test Smith isn’t in charge both look like they’ll play

Now the Glenelg District Cricket Club are saying he's in!

Great reward for effort, had to bash the door down for a Shield game and then do the same for a Test Match.

Silly? Apart from Mennie getting a gig before Sayers when have the selectors picked someone not as good as him? He's behind the big 3 we've currently got & equal with Bird.

I hope he goes well but he's not making anyone look silly if he does.

Jackson Bird twice then wasn’t in the SAF Squad at all. Richerdson from WA ahead of him

So Warner to do his press conference in a couple of days and says he is going to name names and what has really been going on. This could get ugly.

Anyway lets sit back and hope the aussies can put in a decent performance in this test. Good luck to Chad Sayers, well overdue for this selection

Mitchell Starc has a 'tibial bone stress in his right leg'.

He will return home for further assessment after the Test and will miss the IPL.
