Easy to make that statement King if I assume the C grade GF is a day after the Saturday comp Prelim when there will be no other SFL finals at other venues on that day. Before Sunday juniors and in the first couple of years of Sunday juniors the C grade GF was played on a Sunday when there was a Saturday comp semi or prelim being played and the atmosphere and crowd was terrible. Playing Saturday night gave some clean air from other finals just like going back to a Sunday will now.

Great to see the C grade GF finally returned to its rightful spot on a Sunday arvo.
How did all the trial games go last w/e? Flaggies had a good hit out against McLaren Vale but had to play six "quarters" covering A and B grades as we were very short on players. Unfortunately, it coincided with the A Grade captain's wedding!!! 25 players unavailable for the game. Personally, love the McLaren Vale set up: oval, change rooms, club etc. Believe they will be a force in the GSFL under the former Reynella coach (apologies, can't spell the name). Flaggies host Goody Saints this w/e. (Captain will be "rested" after a week of exercise!!!!).

I don't believe that to be the case after Monday nights Presidents and delegates meeting I believe decision was not made but suggested .

I am sure the issue was clashing with Semi final, also mail medal to be split with juniors one night followed by seniors or about.

Goodwood Saints 10.9 Flaggies 9.10 - after Goody Saints up by 45 points at half time, 7 goals to 1 in 2nd half, Flaggies would have won with another couple of mins on the clock.

Played MVale last week and Willunga just gone with Harndorf next week .

I was away against Mvale and watched 3 quarters against Willunga with all very happy with a solid contest's .

In fairness Blackwood had an absolute truckload unavailable. Not really a true indication. Trials are just that.

Anyone know much about SFLW.. Appears theres no fixture yet not sure what the delay is considering all other grades of men are out. They said there was a delay in it because they are focussing on fixing C grades as there are clashes at some ovals but cant see why it would take this long?

So far we know that the season will start on April 29th, with full byes for the June Long Weekend ( June 10th) and the middle weekend of school holidays, July 15th.
- Theres 6 teams in the womans open.. Mvale, Cove, Reynella, Flaggies, OSB/Lonsdale & Hackham.. unsure of u16/u14 teams?
- 12 aside plus 4 on bench
- oval 100x80
- Normal Rules
- Trial matches/carnival 8/15th of April..

It seems the SFL is determined to have Womans Division but yet its slightly disorganised about coming forth with information. Womans football is on the rise and it seems that there is a lot of interest in this. Not sure what team numbers & player numbers are like for this season but would help clubs if it was organised better..

Does anyone else know much like fixtures?, field placements, goals used, finals?.. Is the SFL aiming to have a full 18 side comp in the womans eventually or stick with 12 a side? whats the motivation for them introducing a womans comp if they don't seem fully behind it..

They are not alone, the other two metro comps running female comps (SAWFL & SANFL Juniors) are also still finalising draws.

Mainly because they start later, they wouldn't be the highest priority at the moment. Similarly we do not have a minis draw yet.

Great news -

A TEN-YEAR campaign to upgrade a sporting complex — used by more than 3000 people each week — has come to an end.

Flagstaff Community Centre Inc has wanted to upgrade its clubrooms for almost a decade, but Onkaparinga Council had been saying it only “ranked as a middle-level priority”.

However, the council voted at its last meeting to now throw its full support behind the club’s $1.14 million upgrade, to cater for the ground’s growing demand.

The council last week contributed $240,000 to the project, adding to the Federal Government’s $400,000 grant and Davenport state Liberal MP Steve Murray’s $500,000 pledge.

The venue is a popular one — used by Flagstaff Hill cricket, football and tennis clubs, as well as Southern Hills Little Athletics, Happy Valley Netball Club, fitness@flagstaff, Flagstaff Athletics and the Rotary Club of Flagstaff Hill.

Flagstaff Community Centre chairwoman Michelle Crisp said the board had lobbied the council for an upgrade for about 10 years, but without success.

The centre was originally built for three clubs in the 1980s, not the eight clubs that call it home today.

“(At the moment), there is a lack of flexibility for a multi-user format, there are issues with the kitchen and the bar area … and in 2016 the SANFL did an audit of all facilities across the state and found that ours were the second worst in the council area,” Ms Crisp said.

“We are extremely confident the upgrade will meet the needs of all our user groups and sporting participants.

“We have strong clubs in a growing community and we anticipate a growing demand for us and our services.”

Plans included larger clubrooms to cater for its growing number of members, male and female changerooms, increased storage and an upgraded kitchen, canteen and bar.

Currently, girls are “relegated” to the public toilets because there were no amenities available inside, Ms Crisp said.

BMX dual world champion Sam Willoughby, netballers Laura and Natalie Von Bertouch, footballer Adam Cooney and Bay Sheffield winner Sam Osmond have been affiliated with the centre during their careers.

Cr Marion Themeliotis told a meeting last week the project was important to the wider community.

“Now that we have got all our ducks in a row, it’s the perfect opportunity to get this started,” she said.

Cr Gary Hennessy said the centre’s dedication to getting the plan off the ground was admirable.

“We need to support people who are prepared to get off their backsides and do the work,” Cr Hennessy said.

“Sometimes people just want us to handout to them, but they haven't done that.

“They have done a lot of lobbying and they have got a result.”

Flagstaff Hill Football Club chairwoman Deb Osmond, who oversees senior women’s and girl’s football sides, said female players had welcomed the upgrades.

The club has an open women’s and an under 14 side, and is still recruiting players.

“It gives us a real home base,” Ms Osmond said.

“When the girls found out they were getting change rooms they were so excited … 12-year-old girls do a lot of squealing”

Noarlunga have already lodged the transfer online... In fact they did this on the 20th of March.
