My gut feel is it'll be quite unbalanced comp - the top 3 sides will be a fair way clear of the middle group who will be a country mile ahead of the bottom 3.

Forgive me if you have done this but what order do you have the clubs in?

I have:

Lockleys
CBCOC
Black Friars
Pultney
Hope Valley
Woodville south
Kenilworth
Hectorville
Ingle Farm
Smithfield

CBCOC
Lockleys
Pulteney

Blackfriars
Woodville South
Hope Valley
Smithfield

Kenilworth
Ingle Farm
Hectorville

I suspect 5 wins will be enough to avoid relegation, top 5 will be a fair bit harder but would think the top 4 are pretty well locks and everyone else will be fighting for 5th.

Having said that, a long can change over a season, injuries etc kick in, you just never know what can happen..

Have Heccies lost many? Down from Divi 4 and you have them bottom. They were competitive last season

Don't think so - only really Ingall, Sauerwald and Wootton - more gut feeling lol. They haven't appeared (yet) to top up players, and given they were looking for a B grade coach only a couple weeks ago would be a little unsettling.

Don't really know much about their B grade either, don't know what the depth is like there?

Guess I think may not be a matter of them losing players being the difference, but most of the other sides being quite aggressive in their recruiting or already boasting very strong squads through grades.

I did think he was gone, checked the clearances and he wasn't on there so thought maybe it was someone else I had heard was leaving.

Fair blow if true.

Their depth wasn't that strong last season in D4R. Finished sixth and were very much middle of the pack, belted by the teams above them but able to beat the bottom teams.

They were in div 3 about 4 year ago i reckon, going by the clearances they have been very busy,Woodville south also with some big signings and ive heard sumner is staying even no a clearance has been lodged.
Then you have Pulteney who have gone on a recruiting rampage with some big signings, lockleys have strengthen up what was already a candidate.
Us guys, have got a couple coming back home also still a clearance or two to be lodged still.
So we are in for a interesting division 5 for 2018.

I was looking at the SAAFL history page earlier, for those playing at home, CBC were in Div 3 back in 2012.

He was by far the best player in the competition that year too.

From memory CBC spent the next few years in a weird phase of winning Reserves/C Grade Flags but A Grade wooden spoons.

Got relegated in back to back seasons from div 3 & 4, no wooden spoons. Then have played finals pretty much every year since. In those 2 years we relegated we won a c grade flag. The A grade played finals the year the b grade won it & same when the C’s won it again recently.

We had an ageing list & had a large number of blokes retire & a couple head to SANFL clubs. Only just got relegated both years as well.

They’ve got some really good kids from their U18’s that played A’s and B’s last year and if they have kept them on board then they will be fine. Reckon they played about a dozen of them.
