How bad are Rostrevor travelling. Poor form. Weather obviously played a part but shouldn't be used as the only excuse. If they miss finals i think its time for a few of their boys to take a good hard look at the whole situation.

Blacks! No intention to offend you!! You accuse me of contradicting myself; however, in talking about ex-players, I am talking about 40-60 year old ex players (not as I think you assumed current players playing for other clubs), who talk about the days when they played for the blacks, all the great players they played with, the friendships they made, how successful a lot of guys they have played with have become etc, etc. Can't remember names as I am crap with remembering them, sorry! But run into a lot through work, and at games.

I am not talking about whinging from the Uni inner sanctum, but rather older ex-players and supporters (many ex-players whose kids now play footy). I've met guys who are partners in firms, who say how good it was playing for uni, but now all players play for money and uni can't compete with the $$ being paid, players who could play for uni are going off to play in the country for $$ or for other clubs, or college teams etc. All I'm saying is they should put their money where their mouth is!! If uni footy was so good to them, maybe they should give back to the club that gave them so much. I reckon that $$ is wrecking amateur footy. Dollars are tight around the club for things like club and ground maintentance, change rooms, uniforms, balls etc, yet players are getting a couple hundred bucks a game. Would love to see footy where players play for the love of the game and the club, play for a club because of the guys that make up the club and the coach, but I know I'm dreaming!!

It's not fun facing the certainty of relegation but I do know that the inner sanctum of the club has agreed to not pay players because it does lead to a culture of dependence. This plus the fact that the Council will not allow clubrooms to be built at either of University Oval or Park 10 makes it hard for the club to generate income that paying players requires. A great many older players are contributing to the club via donations to the football club that help pay for stuff like insurance, ground maintenance and all the necessary stuff that makes any football club survive and function. They have also contributed to the fund to renovate Park 10 changerooms and the upcoming renovation of University Oval.

That's our bed that we have chosen to lay in and we'll have to cop the relegation on the chin. I'd personally like to think that the current crop of young players being exposed to Div 1 are learning from the (often painful) experience; I know many are still enjoying it and that it's a year that we learn from and that the club continues on well into its second century of existence.

Rostrevor certainly have fallen in a huge hole after losses to both Henley and Edwardstown and it will be very difficult for them to pinch 5th spot off the mighty Broadies as we start to hit form at the right time. The other big suprise was Uni winning only its second game of the year over Gepps Cross who have been very ordinary so far in the second half of the year. Makes you wonder about the intellect down there in changing the coach when they were going ok just because the bar manager doesnt like him. Maybe they need to change bar managers!
TTG look like they might provide some interesting competition come finals time and maybe it is not just a two horse race.

Good win for Broadview considering most people thought Henley would get over them. Also massive win for Rocs, how can they beat Goodwood and lose to Edwardstown??????? Keeps the finals race alive for 1 more week.

Golding has been doing the majority of ruck work. Think they have blooded a B grader that has done ok off the Bench when Golding is rooted.

Anyone heard the news that Gepps Cross is struggling to pay its bills and is under investigation from higher powers? The word was pretty strong and reliable at Broadies oval on Saturday. Police involved?

Good to see Broadview make the finals and more importantly beat Gaza. Rostrevor are in some serious trouble or what, very average end to the season. For all the talent the radio show and SAAFL people go on about, surely they would be a finals team????

Good luck to all sides in finals and beware the Broadie Tigers have hit form at the right time with consecutive wins over Gaza and Goodwood. Should be a great finals series.
To those sides who missed out better luck next year.
Some changes at clubs next year with the following strong rumours:
ROCs to look for new coach after dismal fall away late in year and poor finals form in previous years,
Henley to look for new coach after current coach resigned last week and lack of finances will restrict possible applicants
Gepps Cross to sign Jason Roe but asking price of $15,000 considered too high but bar manager has been chasing him for a long time as they are drinking buddies and will pay whatever.
Edwardstown to resign Mitton if he wants the job
Adel Uni have resigned Roach
