Not good at all for the Jets. Did Cosgrove/Gatting play? Can't help but think that those two both need 500+ runs and 10+ wickets each for them to be any good this year.

I was told Northerns played Sturt on the weekend and beat them easily, without MC.

Heard the ND v port game was a T20 so bolwed out cheaply is slightly more explainable so is the port players retiring so quickley. Woodville played port in 2 games with premier league on it was more like an A/B grade game then a B/C gade game, believe the main game was a close encounter with port just winning

Heard that Flynn Prentice or whatever his name is (English player at Prospect) didn't get through customs and has been flown back home.

Wonder if that will happen to a few blokes again? Tougher to get visas now

What exactly has changed that is making it more difficult for them? I thought the only issue used to be if a pro player was trying to get in on a tourist visa but Fynn was a pro last year but has since lost his contract so cant see why that would be the issue this time?

They have assumption now that anyone that turns up with cricket kit and trying to enter on a tourist visa is possibly entering under false pretenses.

Actually a moronic decision by grade cricket to start juniors out of sync with seniors (again). One dayer would have allowed all college kids to play.

Dumb.

Couple of interesting names in the B's. Ben Dougall back for East Torrens. Will be very handy. Also Luke Wells skippering Woodville.

Should probably fit the school holidays around the cricket program.

I'm going to put my balls on the line here. I'm not saying that Northern's will make the finals or anything but I think they will give a few teams a real scare.
Gatting, Cosgrove and Duval help bring experience which is everything in grade cricket.
Some huge match ups first up.
Sturt v Port looks a massive game as does the Gullies and West Torrens. Plus the battle of the elite in Kensington and Uni

More rain today. Might be a few fresh decks around!

Time for some tips:

Leading run scorer (& Bradman Medal) - Sam Raphael (Adelaide)

Leading wicket taker - Ben Turley (Woodville)

Rising Star (does grade cricket have that?) - Tom O'Connell (Sturt)

Bolter for Grade Team of the Year - Austin Umpherston (Port)

Premier - Adelaide

Not a great start to the year when a club can't meet the deadline for entering senior teams  , however they will give the finals a shake IMO.

Do we read anything into some junior sides not entered who forfeited last year

Nice story on Woodville's facebook page. Good to see a young kid from the country get an opportunity.

Congratulations to Mitch Fuss, Jacob Dickman and Cooper Thompson who will all make their debuts for the Woodville DCC First Grade this weekend vs East Torrens.

Mitch becomes only one of a very select number of guys who will play his first senior match in the First Grade after a great year last season in the Under 16's. A product of the Mid North Zone (Port Pirie) Mitch also joins a long list of country boys to represent the club and will play alongside both Ben Cousins and Harry Thoman who have followed the same path from the Mid North.
