What is the best type of format to convert vhs files to without destroying sound or quality DV,AVI,MPEG,VCD,SVCD,DVD,WMV

I was looking to convert some footy games and i dont want the commentary to be distorted to much can anyone help with the format?:lol:

Convert to DVD as you can always play it on any DVD player that way.

Is that the best one without making the video jump and what bitrate do i choose?

Dunno about bitrate but as long as you fit no more than about 2 hours on a DVD you'll be right.

As far as video jumping it wont occur in any of the formats you mentioned if you do it right and have the right hardware, it'd be more to do with the quality of the video feed going in.

Yeah i have a dvico tv tuner card with home videos it jumps a bit

I will probably just use variable bit rate?
