Glenelg/West merger?

Postby therisingblues » Sun Jun 11, 2017 1:07 pm

K.G's rumour this morning.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

If this happened,
could the SANFL add teams such as,
Mt Gambier
Riverland
An Iron Triangle team.
Or
A couple of ammos teams,
all would draw bigger followers to games than the crows currently?

They'll be based at Glenelg Oval, wear the colours black and gold and be known as the Glenelg Tigers.

Done deal!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

K.G was quite adamant. They took callers on the topic.
Bloody hope it does not happen. I don't really know how seriously we should be discussing it as yet. Still just a rumour...

A couple of weeks ago, the Glenelg football club approached the local council with an ultimatum.
Basically it went like this, pay our debt, or we will close the doors.
That's how dire the situation at The Bay is.

Well, sadly I look at this way...the sanfl is in dire straits and some of its clubs are sailing very close to the wind financially. I'm sure all clubs would as a last resort look at a merger as an alternative to extinction. There of course would be a huge public outcry... and my personal opinion is that generally when there is a merger between 2 clubs, inevitably there is one winner and one loser. If South were to lose their identity in any way shape or form, that would be it for me.

Can't disagree with a word of that.

It's embrassing that he's still allowed on the radio. He's so old hat.
