Collingwood, Melbourne and St Kilda in the 8, Adelaide and Geelong not? Collingwood....

I did raise an eye-brow at his rationale for Collingwood, "surely they can't have another bad injury run season..."
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Hope so, I've got a $1000 bet with a bloke at work that North will finish higher than Collingwood at the end of the minor round.

Reckon you're on the wrong side of that one spargo.

But both teams won't make the eight

There's that unexpected bolter every season, and Im beginning to wonder if it might be Gold Coast this year. Not to win the flag or anything, but near or in the 8 maybe?

I think from last years bottom 6 ( Richmond, Carlton, Gold Coast, Fremantle, Brisbane, Essendon ) they are the most likely to improve the most, obviously GAj and Lynch are critical to their season ahead. I also think the O'Meara, Prestia etc moves might have a more united group up there, but ultimately who knows with the pop up shop called Gold Coast.

Hahaha just an opinion, their defence a year older, their forwards Schache and Hipwood will be improved by their first year. Far better coach too.

I am starting to think that the Saints could be the bolter into the top 4 from outside of the 8.

Roo is looking as fit as he has ever been, and Bruce, Membrey and McCartin look to be developing nicely.

I like their mids. I rate Tom Hickey and think he is set for a big season. Steven, Armitage & Montagna are proven accumulators. Ross & Dunstan are developing into solid B grade mids, and they have some silk in Billings to rotate through there, who i think is ready to go bang this season.

Their key posts down back look a bit thin, which might be their undoing against the pacesetters. Carlisle will be a good inclusion, but they do lack a 2nd genuine tall.

I think Freo will be the side that could return to the 8 in 2017 from the bottom half, along with Port.

Take Montagna out of that I reckon, he's already done an old man calf this summer and might not be right for round 1. Not that he's their barometer, Steven, Armitage and Dunstan have gone past him, but it might be one less wise old head they have in the middle from time to time if he doesn't get it right.

I can see the Saints being top 8, not top 4 just yet though, but you never know.
