All sounds good,
so long as our SA league clubs and their members pay nothing and get some recompense for their resource and time costs.
Expect big $ losses here too.

The same philosophy used in spreading the game north of the border, meanwhile we are ignored if not punished for our 150 year devotion to the game. I understand that it is all business and all that, and there will be potential dollar payoffs for spreading the game around to as many markets as possible. The thing is, I love it because it is a sport! It would be nice to have at least one aspect of life in the 21st century not governed by how many bottles of Coke, or how many Big Macs can be sold. Strip away all the corporate crap and it really is a great sport.
Whoops, a bit of a side track there. Basically what I mean is it is great to have new converts to the game, but the existing support should be maintained, or the supply lines will be drawn too thin.

I don't think we are being punished for our 150 year devotion, we are being punished for moving too slowly with the times.

Totally agree. When sport was more pure, I personally enjoyed it much more, SANFL, Rugby, Soccer etc.
It's been all downhill since about 1976 (with the odd exception like 2002 and 2016 :P)

So how do we move with the times?
For me, the objective is to preserve the sport /competition we have played for over 100 years, as best we can.
The AFL is more about their own competition, than the good of the sport. Hence expansion, saturation while ignoring, even punishing traditional competitions.
How can we move with the times while preserving that which we hold dear?

Who really gives a toss about a womens comp in the SANFL or the AFL the major issue is to ERADICATE the two AFL INTERLOPERS from the SANFL.

So really the priority must be for the AFL to have a proper and legitimate AFL Reserves comp.

So faaaarrrkk the womens comp.
SANFL 2000 - 2011 Central District 12 consecutive Grand Final appearances and 9 Premierships.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF.

Hit em hard let them get up and hit em again.

Apparently this comp is running from Feb to April.

I've been approached by a SANFL club to head up the womens team trainers if they chose to submit a team.

Mainly because their current trainers are already have so much commitment with the senior teams.

I think it's going to be very hard to find the extra resources at most clubs.

I havent read any details of the competition, only that SANFL clubs are to nominate for participation and its running Feb March.
So as its running the same time as the AFL Womens comp, does that mean the Crows squad players not in the best 22 then play for one of SANFL teams? I'm thinking that's the whole reason for running in parallel.

Given the above, then this comp will be the same as the "better" old days of SANFL pre 2014, with no AFL reserves. This is a good thing. At least the integrity will be better than the current SANFL men's comp.

Until they decide that things would be a whole lot better if they could have their independent reserves side competing against the SANFL affiliated teams. This will happen in about ten years time, after the girls have made a success of the SANFL system. Toys always look better when other kids are enjoying them, so they want the competition to get some integrity first, then they can have something to destroy when they muscle their way in.

Messenger this week.. six of eight SANFL teams have shown an interest in this PC experiment.. Six SANFL clubs posted financial losses this year.

Norwood suggest the SANFL will hand about 10K to clubs to finance the comp.

Adam Kelly says 4 licences will be issued by the end of the month.. So while we have a PC AFL Gilligan feel good exercise the real deal men's comp. is constrained by financial pressures.. Eventually the AFL/SANFL will ruin the breeding grounds of real football just to feel goo about this nothing comp.

Norwood say 48% of their supporters are female, this does not mean they want to participate or watch this PC exercise... Fantasia why does it make sense to have woman's footy? How many of these supporters go along and watch woman's footy now? bout the same number that watch men's netball I would imagine.

If the SANFL have 40k plus to throw around maybe they should spend it on the product which really does develop the future..

Agreed.

The $40k should be invested in more burger vans and cheerleaders. That's where women's participation in Aussie Rules should start and end.

Oh and here's the obligatory ;) :D so not to cause offence.

The inaugural season of the SANFL Women’s League competition, which kicks off early next year, will be named the ‘Statewide Super Women’s League’ and will feature four teams following a month-long selection process.

The four clubs selected to be part of the inaugural women’s league are; Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood and West Adelaide.

I was checking the SANFL website for confirmation of the dates, ovals to be used etc as Gliderol Stadium is used by cricket up until at least the end of SACA minor round matches which I believe is 12th March 2017, then further use depends on the club's finals standings.

I read an article a couple of weeks ago where a Norwood representative said the SANFL had been asked to assist the clubs with grounds, and funds for support staff, coaches etc. Today's SANFL media release mentioned $10,000 funding to each club, but didn't mention anything about grounds to be used.
