GSFL Movements

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Re Yanks win over Compass, I suspected Compass must have been down on personell. I spoke to a Yank player who had talked to Compass player and the impression he got was that they had their self belief knocked out of them by their losses to Willunga and the Creeks and thus it was really a two horse race for the GF. Not talk of rifts as such, just that they thought they didnt have a chance.

Barry Crocker wrote:FootyMad you seem to be a very passionate Bays supporter, and as a former player I browse through here from time to time to see whats happening. You might want to check your own back yard when talking about rifts at other clubs, two of your quality locals were at a game during your weekend off having discussions with our coach and football manager about next year, they are more than p&$$@d off about the amount of money being thrown at the so called stars and the work load being left to the locals (the few that are left!). They are not happy with the coach and will not be there next year if he is. Half the committee want him again and half dont. Current and former players want some old committee members back to sort things out, and this is just some of it apparently, so don't go speaking to loudly about rifts.
As for Compass, if you know anything about the league you will know Compass are one of the least wealthy clubs in the league, but seem to recruit well, manage themselves well, dont waste money on big name stars/has beens and are very well coached as I saw first hand last year as they took us apart. I know they dont pay big money beacause our club approached one of their recruits this year and he was on half of what we offered (and that wasn't a lot by any means) but had been training down there and said they were a great group of blokes and a real good atmosphere there. As for the wheels falling off, I think you will find they had about 10 players out and a heap with the flu according to someone I know from down at Yank but well done to Yank on breaking through! Besides the wheels looked pretty sturdy when they belted us by 15 goals twice this year!! And another thing the other club the two said they were keen to talk to if they stay in the Great Southern League, is the one who's "wheels have fallen off" supposedly.

Bahahahahahah Crocker you idiot, the ol switch aroo trick normally works well however your lack of intelligence has left you exposed. (insert maxwell Smart accent)
First the rumour about your clubs current problem came from the top end of the Victor Harbour Food Chain so best you focus your intensions on them with the switch aroo.
BTW Are you sure it wasn't actually the Bays coach who was in Murray Bridge at a certain game who was seen talking with a particular prominant compass player re 08... food for thought.

Your spot on Barry Crocker, when you elude about unrest at the Bay. That is why I posed the question about Garth Reynolds and Chris Bulter a while back. Here are two young lads that have played most of their lives at the Bay (Garth had a 1 year stint at Mt Gambier and tore a bicep) and all of a sudden they have no involvement! Strange as to why that has happened? Anyway enough of the rubbish, bring on LC v Willunga in the GF, I haver a footy trip to go on! As for Footy Mad, he has passion for the Bays beacuse he is the man at the helm!

I love stupidity in numbers, it makes me feel good.
Garth Reynolds = Moved interstate for work, returned after the start of the season, chose to have remainder off.
Chris Butler = No pre-season, works saturday mornings, commenced playing after the start of the season - still works saturdays and still plays.
If helm is the verandah on a saturday well then I am well and trully steering the ship!

Yummy - this time tell your boys to stop pretending they are from the Bay! Unlike a recent SAFC sunday league game at Panther park where they were all plastered running a muck under the alias 'its ok, we are from encounter bay' LOL funny bastards!

I thought it was bloody funny - apparently one of your lads passed out drunk with a Goolwa shirt on and the boys were pissed as mutes telling everyone its ok - we are from Encounter Bay, we're the bay boys etc etc might've even had a crack at singing our song or something.

Correct weight. We stuffed up by singing the old Bay song. Thats what brought us undone. (and three guys wearing Saints shirts didn't help)

Footballers Getting plastered and Running amuck During footy season
Surely this isn't still happening these days, what with the amount of education players get about Recovery and fitness management and the amount of Dedication and commitment shown by players these days.

The old GSFL Movements page was starting to get a bit boring over the last week or so.. great to see people get a bit fired up!

Onto the footy though... At first glance Round 16 looks like a pretty straight forward round as far as tipping goes but with finals starting in just under a month there are plenty of teams with their season on the line. The match between Victor & Strath looks to be the match of the round. Victor had a thrilling one point win last week against their arch rivals and Strath will be looking to consolidate 5th spot. None of the other games appear to be too closely matched however the Bays did push Langhorne Creek last time around... it might be a different story at Hawk Park though.

On another note I've been very disappointed with the GSFL website this year. Last year the scores, goalkickers and ladder was usually updated every Sunday. Whoever's in charge of it has been pretty slack this season. All the information has been getting updated about a week after.

Your right Limb, the GSFL site it slack, I get my scores and updates from Colliver site - countryfootysa.com its all on there by 5pm sunday. The GSFL site needs updating in general anyway.

The Bays again will go in this week with out Princi, Baylis, Brown, Bassani, Heuskes so some good young kids will get there chance I'd reckon.

My question is will the Roos continue on with it or will Strath finally consolidate?

Deadset, our thread was getting boring so a bit of fire in the belly gets blokes reading!

Yes a bit of spice added to the forum always good.

Creeks still travelling marvellously with king back last week booting a lazy 4 on return.
this week i think Strath will do victor easily. the last spot in the 5 will be the toss up with no clear favourite for it. from my experience encounter bay were ordinary, mclaren were ordinary and over the weekend myponga ordinary. all teams need to lift if want to challenge the top sides.

everyone trying to get there sides right for a tilt at the finals.

limb im still waiting for the triumphant day u strut your stuff in the a grade mate!

I know your only as good as your last game but must I remind you BJ that Encounter did beat Willunga the first time round. They have been down in some key positions of late, (including the second game against Willunga), i'm not saying that they would have beaten Willunga but when you lose pretty much your whole midfield and ruck then your going to struggle!
On any given day teams can get up for a win, this may have been the case in round 2, just like Yank over Compass and Willunga over the Creeks last year in the GF, so come finals time every team is in with a chance!

not a bad little effort there panther, i enjoyed the GF one on the end.
encounter bay could have had 10 players in and it wouldnt have made a difference that day. every team has injuries, i think u will find willunga had 4 or 5 out that day aswell.
how u cover them is what counts.
correct in saying that any team can win on its day but its a big call to say anyone will beat the creeks this season. even we know that.
