Both clubs are largely unsuccessful and right next to each other. Merge them and they might have success. I thought a good idea
We've won 2 flags in 5 years - 2012 and 2015 and the one before that was in 2002. But OK, we will strive for more.

I personally wouldn't be against a merger - provided we wear green, red and white, play at Mitchell Park and are called Mitchell Park.

You're in div 7 so you probably could strive a fair bit harder. Not much point winning a flag to get relegated the next year all the time
Not exactly a club steeped in success. Merging with Marion might be the key to getting out of divvy 7

Thanks for your concern Ditchy but I can assure you we will be doing everything possible to build some sustainable success at MPFC. I wish Morphy Parks all the best as they embark on their first season in the SAAFL

Marion ain't ever going to help MP get out of Div 7. A few of their X players are already over there. :D

Again it depends on what you deem success to be. I'm sure if you gave Parkies the same $ to spend on players as Morphettville Park would then they wouldn't be playing dub 5,6,7 like they have for 15 years. Not that there is anything wrong with paying players..... but 95% of clubs in div 5 and 6 over the years wouldn't come close to forking out the cash each week like clubs in other leagues and higher divisions do. Ex league and reserve grade footballers rarely play for free and there is at least an incentive there to entice them. Especially when they roll up in groups. Again there is nothing wrong with it, but looking down on clubs who are in lower divisions or don't get results is a bit rich.

No one looking down on divvy 7 players
purely comments between footy people in the area who think that Marion and Mitchell Park should merge
Marion have the double story club rooms and $$$$$ while Mitchell Park have not a lot other than a bit of passion
Merge them together and get one decent club was our thoughts instead of 2 rank shitty ones without any success

Unless I've been living on Melmac, I'm certain that MP won a flag in 2015?

Ditchy does not consider that worthy of acknowledgement

And 2012. Not to mention the new 2 storey $3 million complex starting to be built next season at the Den. ;) By the way the Carter boys played in the trial against MP that the Lions won by 20 goals. Two lads don't make a club.

Hearing some other SFL clubs are looking to make the move as the AdFL looks towards a 70 Club comp in 2018

Same but not completely up with who they might be, although Marion was coming to mind for some reason.

Indeed, word is that if all the clubs wrestling with the decision were to make the Jump we'd have move past a 70 Club comp. Assuming the League is of the view 70 is the maximum you'd want to be at the head of the queue.

I have been told that OSB Lonsdale, Marion and Reynella all looking at entering in 2018, but Executive Member would certainly know if this is true or not.

As I'm no Southie, is Reynella before or after the hill?
