Lucas Walker's NBL career has been thrown a lifeline signing with the Perth Wildcats as a temporary injury replacement for Matt Knight who has injured his shoulder again in training and will be out for the next two months. Walker is expected to play the first seven games of the season for the Wildcats.

A few more signings with the Cairns Taipans announcing they've re-signed guard Damon Heuir to a 1 year contract and the NZ Breakers have signed Aussie guard Isaih Tueta as a temporary injury replacement for Shea Ili who is recovering from a stress fracture in his back. Tueta has been playing in the SEABL for the Brisbane Spartans.

A couple of pre-season games played tonight with the Brisbane Bullets beating the NZ Breakers 80-70 in Tauranga. For the Bullets Torrey Craig scored 20 and for the Breakers Akil Mitchell scored 15. Also the 36ers won the third and final game against the Shandong Golden Stars tonight 106-62 in Waikerie.

In a good pre-season result tonight the 36ers beat the Perth Wildcats 88-85 in Geraldton. For the 36ers Eric Jacobsen scored 20 and Daniel Johnson had 16 and for the Wildcats Casey Prather had 28 points & 11 rebounds and Jesse Wagstaff also scored 28 points.

The Brisbane Bullets have beaten the NZ Breakers in a pre-season game in Napier tonight 79-75. For the Bullets Tom Jervis and Anthony Petrie each scored 15 and for the Breakers Tom Abercrombie scored 19 and Akil Mitchell had 17. Also the Sydney Kings have returned home from their pre-season tour of China with a 4-0 record.

A couple of pre-season games tonight the 36ers again beat the Perth Wildcats 84-79 in Bunbury. For the 36ers Daniel Johnson scored 19 and for the Wildcats Jameel McKay scored 22 and the Illawarra Hawks beat the Cairns Taipans 78-73 in Cairns with Rotnei Clarke scoring 23 for the Hawks and Jarrad Weeks scoring 17 for the Taipans.

A couple of pre-season results tonight the Illawarra Hawks beat the Cairns Taipans 92-85 in Cairns. Nick Kay scored 18 for the Hawks and Fuquan Edwin & Alex Loughton each scored 22 for the Taipans. Also last night the Brisbane Bullets beat the NZ Breakers 86-77 in Invercargill.

The NBL's newly renamed pre-season competition the Australian Basketball Challenge (formerly the Blitz) starts tomorrow in Brisbane.

Day 1 schedule:

2pm - Perth Wildcats vs Tianjin

4:30pm - Sydney Kings vs NZ Breakers

7pm - Brisbane Bullets vs Zhejiang

Every game across the four days will be streamed live and free on the NBL's website.

Day 1 results at the ABC saw the Perth Wildcats beat Tianjin 109-66. For the Wildcats Casey Prather scored 26 and for Tianjin Tre Kelley scored 20. The Sydney Kings beat the NZ Breakers 94-65, for the Kings Jason Cadee scored 18 and for the Breakers Ben Woodside scored 14 and the Brisbane Bullets defeated Zhejiang 117-73 with Jermaine Beal leading the Bullets with 28 and for Zhejiang Willie Warren and Bo Liu Feng each scored 16.

Day 2 schedule:

10:30am - Cairns vs Adelaide

1pm - Illawarra vs Zhejiang

4:30pm - Melbourne vs Tianjin

7pm - Sydney vs Brisbane

Scores from Day 2 of the ABC were obviously the Cairns Taipans beating the 36ers 93-83 with Cameron Gliddon scoring 27 for the Taipans and Mitch Creek scored 22 for the 36ers, the Illawarra Hawks beat Zhejiang 123-75 with Marvelle Harris scoring 22 and Rotnei Clarke 19 for the Hawks and Willie Warren scored 28 for Zhejaing. Also Melbourne United beat Tianjin 133-62 with Todd Blanchfield scoring 25 and Tai Wesley 24 for United and Tre Kelley had 25 for Tianjin and in the final game the Brisbane Bullets defeated the Sydney Kings 83-79, Tom Jervis had 18 points & 10 boards for the Bullets and Greg Whittington scored 17 for the Kings.

Day 3 schedule:

10:30am - NZ Breakers vs Cairns Taipans

1pm - Illawarra Hawks vs Perth Wildcats

4:30pm - Tianjin vs Zhejiang

6:30pm - Slam dunk comp & 3pt shootout

7:30pm - Adelaide 36ers vs Melbourne United

Supposedly the 36ers Terrance Ferguson will be one of the contestants in the dunk comp tonight, hopefully he doesn't injure himself like Kenyon McNeail did last year.

Zhejiang defeated Tianjin 102-93 in the battle of the two chinese teams with Jeremy Tyler putting up 30 points & 13 boards for Zhejiang and Willie Warren scoring 22 and Hao Lai Jun 20 for Tianjin. In the final game Melbourne United beat the 36ers 100-97, Ramone Moore scoring 25 and Tai Wesley 19 for United and for the 36ers Mitch Creek scored 28 and Daniel Johnson 22.

The Kings Jason Cadee won the 3pt shootout making 20 of his 25 attempts in the final and the Breakers Akil Mitchell won the dunk comp.

Day 4 schedule:

10am - Perth Wildcats vs Sydney Kings

12:30pm - Adelaide 36ers vs NZ Breakers

4:30pm - Brisbane Bullets vs Cairns Taipans

7pm - Illawarra Hawks vs Melbourne United

9pm - ABC Trophy Presentation

The 36ers beat the NZ Breakers 103-89 with Daniel Johnson with 18 and Brendan Teys with 17 top scoring for the 36ers and Isaih Tueta scored 22 for the Breakers.

The Cairns Taipans defeated the Brisbane Bullets 91-61 with Fuquan Edwin scoring 22 for the Taipans and Tom Jervis had 16 for the Bullets and in the last game the Illawarra Hawks beat Melbourne United 94-86. AJ Ogilvy scored 24 for the Hawks and Tai Wesley had 19 for United.

The Illawarra Hawks were crowned the winners of the Loggins-Bruton Cup and the Taipans Cameron Gliddon won the Ray Borner Medal for ABC MVP.

The 36ers got the win tonight in the pre-season game at TSA, 103-97. For the 36ers Mitch Creek scored 24, Eric Jacobsen 19 and Terrance Ferguson 18 and for the Kings Brad Newley scored 23 and Michael Bryson and Isaac Turner each scored 19.
