Yeah he is.

Same reason players like Atkins and knight have been getting games over Grigg too.

I think the coaches are as much to blame as Hamish when it comes to his poor season(s) in 2015-16.

Specifically 2016, Port started the season playing a full oval press reliant on interceptions and high accountability. We then ditched that game style a 3rd of the way into the season for whatever it is you want to call what we played from about Round 8 onwards.

Despite these 2 gamestyles, we continued to play Hartlett and Broadbent in a quarterback type role. Useless in a side that offered absolutely no offensive target aside from Dixon when transitioning the ball from defensive 50. Equally as useless when trying to apply a press, as this only required 1 player to be a fraction out of position (in this case the "quarterback"), creating a loose man for the opposition. When you have a side that is average with D/E (PA is ranked 18th for disposal efficiency), turnovers inevitably happen, and that loose man always gets spotted up, and the structure falls apart.

Hamish would thrive in a side where he is played in the midfield resting up forward. His size and aggression would improve contested ball numbers, and he is dangerous anywhere within 60m of goal. The potential negative of this is, is he physically too fragile to play midfield full time with his injury history?

His career trajectory suggests his market value would appropriately be in the 15-25 range, but Port aren't in a position to part with him unless a club pays overs.

I'm struggling to find a suitor for him. They'll need to buy a 5 year contract that comes with 3 reconstructed shoulders and regular soft tissue injuries.

Through 13/14/15 he strung together 3 seasons of 22 games a season ( including finals in 13/14 ) and looked to have his body, finally, right.

This year he again he succumbed to soft tissue with a hamstring keeping him out for a couple of games in the early rounds and then a calf up in Brisbane finishing his year and ending up with 15 games for the season.

I defended his 5 year deal early this year on the understanding his contract was, by my information, under his market value. The trade off was it being longer than the usual deal and it meant he won/won by inking a long term deal in his home town and got some real security long term. Well played Hammer and manager.

I'm not totally sold on Port moving him on, we may, he may now wish to, but I get the feeling it was a move by Port Adelaide to say to the rest of the competition come and talk to us, tell us what you have to offer because we are all ears in the upcoming trade period.

Just gone 26, 127 games under his belt and the first season in the last 4 he hasn't been on the park pretty much all year. For mine I'd like to keep Hartlett at the club, I think we know what we have and if we can increase his output by 25% we've got a very solid player.

Wowee, that certainly throws the spanner in the works.

At the very least it means the clubs will be offering him a fraction of what he might get.

Awful news for the lad. Not too often you hear about blokes failing a medical. Last one I remember that comment applying to was Jack Trengove and we all know how that's panned out.

I'm not 100% sure if it's factual he failed a medical. It may be as simple as both clubs going over his medical records and deciding he isn't worth the risk. Essendon and Hawthorn have both met his manager again and as late as yesterday he was still claiming that Jaeger has not done a medical at any club yet.

The term is pretty specific and you would hope it wasn't used in error. Obviously without any official word there's the chance someone has made something up, but it's always disheartening how quickly the media report these things and how accurate they end up being.

Not sure how accurate they were but Schwartz and some other guy were talking about medicals on SEN about a week or so ago and they mentioned that with all the medical data available now clubs don't do anywhere near the ammount of medicals they once did and they generally just go over the medical records pretty thoroughly. I think it was Carlton who last week came out and said after reviewing O'Meara's records that they wouldn't be even bothering to get him as the risk was too big. Seems strange that a couple of clubs are still after him and the Suns themselves offered him a new 2 year deal at 700k a year. Obviously they think he is worth the risk.
It's also pretty hard to do a medical when you are not only still injured but currently overseas on holidays

No I think Hartlett going to Adelaide is the strangest one I've heard.

That would make a heck of a lot more sense. For a start, Hartlett would have a chance of actually playing AFL for the Crows. Not going to happen, but at least there would be an argument for him being on the list.

Still won't happen though. With the exception of probably the dogs we would be up there with the most depth in terms of half back types.

What has happened with hartlett though? Has had a pretty bad year. Falling out?

Where there's smoke there's fire.
Even as late as last week they still saw fit to deny the Hartlett/Boak rumours again. Running with the deny deny deny defence.
When its a choice between your captain or vice captain as to who goes the Captain will always win that battle.
As Booney has said though, Im struggling to see a club that would take a 5 year risk. Port would probably have to sweeten the deal and pay some salary.
Did hear Gray linked to Brisbane and Broadbent to Sydney

I heard Broadbent to "the harbour city". A swans reference, or could it mean GWS?

Brisbane interested in Gray. Wonder what he would attract. Nothing more than a 3rd rounder, surely.

Travis did for a while become the best key forward in the game, but wow it was short lived and I imagine if Eddie today went back to that day and told himself what would happen young Eddie would laugh at old Eddie.

Where do your memories come from? Where did you see this at the time?
I remember the club anticipating that Cameron and Jason could be quality footballers, not necessarily champions. Sadly, they didn't live up to that - Jason had a reasonable career, but certainly not what anyone would have hoped.
As for Travis, the past few years haven't been great (and this year was terrible) but he's an All Australian, won a club b&f, our goalkicking four times and was a formidable player in our grand final runs, including our tilt at the 2007 grand final.
He hasn't had the career finish that I'd have hoped, but he's been a champion for our club. I don't think Eddie would regret that.

Who said regret? I just said they didn't end up having the careers Collingwood thought they would when they drafted them. One by one you've agreed with me, so I'm not sure why you start off trying to disagree.

Not sure how I thought you saying Eddie would be feeling regret, nor that Trav, in particular, had been a failure.
