yeah, can see why you'd be bummed about fun and convenience after coming from the location of your rental :(

Absolutely, I was 2 minutes from the train station, $25-$30 cab ride to the city, great pub in walking distance along with a plethora of eateries, 6 minutes from work and a brand new house.

I was fortunate to buy in the lull in 1996 and sell in the boom in 2007 so managed to upgrade my house at no extra on the mortgage so I am swayed towards buying.
It's going to be a lot different for my kids generation though, the old "own your own home" will never be an option for most so renting is much more appealing now for them.

I totally agree, I've done ok in the past but it's not ideal for me right now.

After losing the house I built in my failed marriage im pretty happy just renting and having that extra coin to live life at the moment

Maybe if the times right I would look to buy again but at the moment renting is giving me the lifestyle I want to live

Only my theory.
You have to leave something for the kids...
Rental won't do it.

I sacrifice oversea's holidays and going out so they can have the opportunity to participate in representative sides and interstate tours.
