Cobby certainly did! Very well played in last year's grand final and well coached too.
Had no answer for Renfrey that day and Treloar killed Sumner.

re: soft grand final
boys, not referring to any past performances, more like individuals who are talented, and appear at this time of the year at mainly seconds or independent level and have not done a pre season etc - and leg themselves into a finals campaign. Soft probably not the right term.

Welcome Recollect. A couple of nice posts to start with.

Rod Hankin to coach Barmera huh?

Be interesting to see if all that comes to fruition. Long way to go. Nice to see some rumours though.

Those players would leave quite a hole....
Do you have inside info Recollect? Surely that wouldn't happen, Cobby would really struggle next season if that was the case.

I seriously doubt it.
Most of them have come from Barmera already - would they go back?
I think Tilly and Rennos have had their shot at A grade. Why would they want to do all that again? Would they go back to play Bs?

As I said, nice to see some rumours at this point.

Cobby lost a few from last year i.e. Hart and Treloar, but that sounds like a mass exodus.
That's the core of the side, they'd really struggle to cover those players:

Tilbrook - leading goalkicker, there's 100 goals they won't have.
Renfrey - best in league on his day
Henderson - Duthie medallist
J. Vagg - possibly the best hf in the comp
R. Vagg - huge pick-up this year
Sampson - as above
Hefford - gun midfielder
Thomas - very underrated player

Thanks for the tip CM. Hard to have fun in a game where you're playing a side you have a strong rivarly with, haven't beaten in a few years and who are one of two teams who're out to stop you achieving the ultimate.

Ummm... I'll try to have more fun this week. But then I'll probably be told to give the opposition more respect.

Anyway, seeing as you were there - do you think we can beat them?

Thanks for that. I do respect each team. Don't take anything for granted.

Honest appraisal. That's cool. I can see how people would think that.
