Round 10 South v North (Noarlunga on Saturday)
SOUTH
South Adelaide has been significantly strengthened by the return of three key players for the clash against North at Hickinbotham Oval on Saturday.
Lead ruckman Daniel Bass returns from a two-match suspension from the SANFL IRP while captain Brad Crabb has served his one-game ban for striking Sturt’s Josh Hone in Round 8.
Much-improved half-back Emmanuel Irra has recovered from a foot injury which kept him out of the West End State game against the VFL last Sunday.
Encounter Bay product Ben Heaslip has been added to the five-man extended interchange bench along with Irra, with two players to be cut before the bounce.
Luckless defender Tarak Redigolo will miss the rest of the year with a serious knee injury while developing ruckman Peter Steffe was sent back to the Reserves.
Utility Jake Veide, who made his IGA League debut in 2009, will play his 100th match against the Roosters after being recruited from Port Noarlunga.

NORTH
North Adelaide coach Josh Carr could take an unchanged line-up into Saturday’s contest against South at Hickinbotham Oval.
Despite the Roosters’ last outing being a loss against Sturt, Carr would be tempted to maintain stability with his youthful group as it continues show great improvement.
Forgotten midfielder Nick Amato has been joined by versatile utility Sam Wundke as the only two inclusions on the extended interchange bench.
Amato has been in strong form in the Reserves but faces a tough challenge to regain his place in such a deep midfield rotation.

Re: Round 10 South v North (Noarlunga on Saturday)
Some good ins for South, surprised to see Irra back so quickly. Well done to 'darth' Veide on his 100th.
North to better their two goal effort in the corresponding match last year, but South to win by 4 goals.

Think South'll be too strong on their home deck, although I think we'll give 'em a good run for their money.

Re: Round 10 South v North (Noarlunga on Saturday)
Big ins for South especially Bassy we have really missed his physical presence the last 2 games.
Crabby and Irra also important also very important players.
Need a win after the last 2 losses to get our season back on track.
Great to see Darrh Veide reach 100 games been a very consistent player for us and a local as well.

South could steal top spot back this Saturday.
Panthers by 8 goals on the back of some good ins.

Re: Round 10 South v North (Noarlunga on Saturday)
South Goal Kickers: B. Eddy 7, J. Trembath 4, R. Newell, C. Hitchcock, R. Barnes, J. Veide
South Best Players: B. Eddy, A. Gulden, D. Bass, J. Cross, N. Schwarz, N. Liddle
North kicked the opening three goals but South had the better of the play from there on, 9 points up after a very uninspiring half of footy.
The game opened up after the break and was good to watch, a 5 goal lead trimmed to 2 by the visitors before two examples of Eddy 'magic' sealed the result.
Eddy again proved why he's the most talented forward in the comp and Trembath was handy after half time. Having said that our forward line doesn't seem to have the same balance/spread as it did earlier in the year. Great to have Bass back, the big fella collecting 21 touches.
Highlight of the day was seeing 17 blokes making the effort to congratulate 100th gamer Veide on his late goal. Team unity hasn't always been transparent at South..

1,164. Fewer than the same match-up / venue last year in R13, the same round that averaged a touch over 1500 people over five matches. That round was colder, damper and neither of these sides were doing as well as currently.

There were certainly a few hundred North supporters on the hill.
I said to a South supporter that I thought that they would have had a bigger support given how well they are going. He responded that there would have been more at the local Southern league games. He maintains that South get better crowds on Sundays when the locals aren't playing.
On what day was last year's game played?

IMHO the SANFL should periodically give out big numbers of free tickets to schools and local footy teams across Adelaide.
Plus play footy every Saturday with just a few exceptions during the season.

Strewth, that's an ominous stat.
I reckon the sub 1000 crowds are on their way. Sturt's crowd of 3,300 yesterday would have been in the 5,000s in previous years, given the importance of the game. It looks as though that is the new upper limit for us in minor round games. When we played South a few weeks back we drew about 3,000 odd then as well. Not good for top v second.
