Wasai Japanese Kitchen, just off gouger.

First time I'd ever been there, but won't be the last. Real good.

Misuss got Tofu Ankake - basically looked like a few large pillows of Tofu with mushroom gravy and veggies. Was bloody tasty though.

I ordered the Wasai Gozen, which was a big segmented bowl with a little bit of everything. Seaweed salad, Sashimi (kingfish/tuna/salmon), Tempura (prawn/fish/pumpkin/seaweed) couple of gyoza, sukiyaki beef, Japanese omlette, and a few little sushi rolls (tuna/california).
Was bloody awesome.

Service was really good, and relatively quick. Only points I'd deduct would be they give you takeaway chopsticks, instead of decent ones. But not a huge concern.

With a cider, a glass of wine and two serves of rice it came to $59 all up.

Would definitely recommend/10

Went the Flagstaff Hotel Saturday night.
It's in the ET book...... 25% off.
I had the dukkah crusted salmon which was pretty good.
Salad and veg bar is one of the better ones going around as well.

Pretty good pub grub........ 8/10.
Although they did slug me $11.50 for a CC and dry(330ml bottle)!!
I know I'm a tight ar$e but that is a bit steep surely?
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Newmarket Hotel at the Port

Good Menu (http://www.newmarkethotelptadel.com.au/the-newmarket-hotel-port-adelaide---menu.html) = Good start.

2 Kids meals, 2 Adult meals, 4 x drinks, Small but decent Salad Bar, Ent Voucher (2 for 1 Main) was just under $50 all up. Well priced.

I had the Newie Stacker - Scotch Fillet Medium Rare was excellent and well cooked, Prawn Skewer was decent, Chicken strip OK, with stacks of chips.

Missus had the Lamb Salad, and whilst she's had better (talking about the meal still), she was still happy enough with it.

Good spacious layout and seating, friendly and prompt service, definitely worth a go imho.

Alberton Hotel - changed their menu, lots of "Tandoori Oven" items.

I went the 250g rump with prawns and calamari, Mrs Boon the 250g T-Bone.Pint of pale, glass of rose, $60.

Whilst a touch on the costly side, both steaks were cooked perfectly, the salad/veggie bar ( IMO ) is the best in the area. At least 6 options on both sides, plenty to choose from.

Got there just on 6:30 and we brought the average ago down considerably. Probably 12 of us in the dining room, service good.

8/10 with the salad/veggie bar countering the pricing.

Will be going back to try the "Sizzling beef steak salad" that came out just as we were leaving.

Good to read a decent review for the Alberton, because I reckon it had gone to the dogs over the last few years .. Prior to that was always a good feed, with crazy amount of options, for a reasonable price. Happy to try again now that you've staked your considerable reputation Boon! ;)

Anyone know of pubs in the inner north west suburbs that has cheap beer?
Surely I don't need to travel to the Reepham or Albion to get $5 pints?

Halfway Hotel? Know it's a Wollies pub and I refuse to set foot in those unless I'm outvoted....

Royal at Henley Beach? Always liked that pub for some reason.

Hilton is supposed to be good these days, but not sure of beer prices? Seaton Hotel is the cheapest in the West I reckon (or that I know of anyway). The Rat is OK, good for a laugh on Friday night Karoake when the mutton gets out and about.

You're probably not too far from the Hope Inn either, which I'd guess is reasonably priced for beer?

Might be worth chasing them up to find out when their Happy Hours are?

Yeah nah, not paying $7.80 a pint at the Rat, no atmosphere too.
Hilton's too far away and lacks atmosphere.
Royal reminds me of dead people.
Anything at Hindmarsh is a pain in the area because of road works.
Think I'll just have to keep going to the Reepham and Albion.

Nah , haven't been north west of the Findon yet. Pretty slack of me as I've been there 6 months now.

Not a review just a comment- On Friday night my family and I were going to the Lighthouse for dinner, my cousin gave us an $80 voucher for it. Due to it having only a small dinning area and it being very busy Friday night we couldn't get in there. So we decided to just go across the river to the Birkenhead Tavern and as usual it didn't let us down. They allowed us to use our voucher there as there both apart of the Barreau hotel group, we were stoked! The food was very good as per usual, I love it there.
