I agree with the difference between no1 to no10 but the top 5 would be the closest in the regional comps and should be a sensational final series.

I was just having a look at the draw for Strath and Myponga for the last 4 rounds and it will be a toss of the coin to decide which team is more likely to snatch the elusive 5th spot and be part of the action in September. Interestingly in the last 4 rounds the two sides will both play against Saints, Willunga and Encounter Bay. Given that they're both locked on 7 wins it may well be Strath's superior percentage that gets them into the finals unless the Mudlarks can record an upset win over Willunga or Encounter Bay.

You don't want to leave out the fact that Encounter are only one game ahead of these two teams with a lower percentage than both.

Realistically the Bays could drop out of the 5 and both Myponga and Strath make it.
It will be a very tight run home with these three teams having to play each other, it should make for some awesome viewing!!!

It wouldn't surprise me if the Saints beat Myponga at home, to seal Pongies fate. Last time out I beleive that the Saints only lost by 30 points after kicking 2 goals 8 in the first term. By all reports the Saints should have got up! The Bays are on a knife's edge would it suprise anyone if they lost the remaining 4? Strath to me look like are sure thing to make he five!

Two of the best missing but the locals do rev up for it so it will be a closer one than last time thats for sure. Bays won by 7 goals last time but this time victor season is well and trully on the line!

Already looking ahead to next week and there are some VERY important matches. The Victor v Strath match should be interesting. I think that Strath should win in a canter but Victor after beating Bays will have a spring in their step. Well done to Yank as well. A team with little to play for still having a good crack, knocked off Mt Compass! Is this the beginning of the end for Compass?

Boring. Lets STOP Stuffing around and Just Play the GF in 2 Weeks time Between Creeks and Willunga.
This then gives all the Fellas Plenty of time for their end of seasons piss ups and trips and still have a W/end or two free to get bored and at the same time Enthused for the oncoming Cricket/tennis/Lawn Bowls/Surfing Seasons.

Word has it there is a rift at Compass between locals and imports regarding hte amount of coin that is going to imports over locals. I didnt think they had that many imports?? The term the 'wheels have fallen off' was used o some up there worries.

With finals just around the corner we have a jam in the middle of the table for 4th and 5th spot with the Bays form being the most worrying of the current top 5.

Each team between 4th and 8th spot has three rounds to prove their worth, basically its the case of beat the immediate teams below or above you to play in September.

4th Spot Strath 8-7 still to play - Victor/EBay/Willunga (should end the minor rd 9-9)
5th Spot Ebay 8-7 still to play - Creeks/Strath/Mypo (should end the minor rd 10-8)
6th Spot Mypo 7-8 still to play - Saints/McLaren/Ebay (should end the minor round 9-9)
7th Spot Victor 7-8 still to play - Strath/Compass/Creeks (should end the minr rd 7-11)
8th Spot McLaren 6-9 still to play - Compass/Mypo/Yank (may end up 6-12 or 7-11)

Strath realistically can feature in finals by beating Victor and maintaining a superior %
Bays should re-group by atleast beating Mypo and Strath in remaining games
Mypo are the wildcard with a nice run home (may come down to the last game for both Mypo and Bays)
Victor will find wins hard from here in but anything can happen and McLaren have the happless task of playing Compass, Mypo and hungry Yank who dont want to finish bottom.

As we've seen all year a neck and neck race however it will be interesting to see if the Bays can feature in finals with their up and down form and ofcourse who will really take it up to the mighty Creeks as Willunga continue to go from strength to strength each week.

FootyMad you seem to be a very passionate Bays supporter, and as a former player I browse through here from time to time to see whats happening. You might want to check your own back yard when talking about rifts at other clubs, two of your quality locals were at a game during your weekend off having discussions with our coach and football manager about next year, they are more than p&$$@d off about the amount of money being thrown at the so called stars and the work load being left to the locals (the few that are left!). They are not happy with the coach and will not be there next year if he is. Half the committee want him again and half dont. Current and former players want some old committee members back to sort things out, and this is just some of it apparently, so don't go speaking to loudly about rifts.
As for Compass, if you know anything about the league you will know Compass are one of the least wealthy clubs in the league, but seem to recruit well, manage themselves well, dont waste money on big name stars/has beens and are very well coached as I saw first hand last year as they took us apart. I know they dont pay big money beacause our club approached one of their recruits this year and he was on half of what we offered (and that wasn't a lot by any means) but had been training down there and said they were a great group of blokes and a real good atmosphere there. As for the wheels falling off, I think you will find they had about 10 players out and a heap with the flu according to someone I know from down at Yank but well done to Yank on breaking through! Besides the wheels looked pretty sturdy when they belted us by 15 goals twice this year!! And another thing the other club the two said they were keen to talk to if they stay in the Great Southern League, is the one who's "wheels have fallen off" supposedly.
