What unit of measurement are you using to determine what "good" is?

So you think how good a team is is dictated purely by win/loss in a season?

Well there's no point being "good" and finishing 10th is there.

I guess you could say the 9 teams above them are "gooder"...

Who cares about finishing 8th either. We are all wanting our teams to win the flag. If I can see that my team is on the right track, and I think it is, then finishing 9th or 8th is pretty irrelevant

I guess you want me to say north?

Given they have made the prelim.

We also aren't talking about the top 6, we are talking about the race for the eight where the difference between making or missing the eight this year could come down to a double up game of either Essendon or a good team.

Here is a better example. Everyone knew freo weren't the best team last year even though they finished top and hawthorn finished 3rd. They had a rubbish start to the year but everyone knew they were better than that, they lost 4 games in the first 8, and 3 in the in the next 19.

Easy to say after the fact Benny. Remember, it was you who on numerous times said "North were by far the worst team in the finals" last year. They got within 3 goals & some terrible home town umpiring from making the GF.

So I was the only one that was saying hawthorn were better than freo?

I didn't say anything about North.

If you lose more than you win, you're not a good side.

If you win a little bit more than you lose, you're an ok side.

And if you win a lot, you're a good side.

Per year there is only one good team and 17 others who don't rate a mention

North wouldn't have got within 5 goals if the swans were fit... I am being generous with the margin.. :)

Of course it is the major factor.

But the draw obviously contributes. If it didn't we wouldn't be talking about ways to have a more equitable one.

So do injuries.

Good teams beat any side...

Unless your scale is -

18-9 - Good
8-2 - Better
1 - Best

Benny - I'm not sure how Geelong can be a bolter when they are only $8 for the flag.

Mind you that is a shocking price.

It is the only factor, good teams win most of their games and finish top 4 regardless of injuries and draws. Average teams can't overcome injuries and inequitable draws.

sorry, my bad, I just assume a bolter is a team out of the 8 who will make genuine claims on a top 4 or better spot.
