you are all right about the point system not showing its advantages for a few years. Clubs need to recruit 4 point players who are willing to be long term players. The other advantage is having past players who have gone to a higher level come back to their home club. If a player comes back to their junior footy club they are only one pointers. For example if Ryan Griffen pulled the pin at the bulldogs and went back to Goolwa he would be a one point player. Start getting smart knowedgabe people on your recruiting committees and tough it out for the next couple of years then you will see results

So Brett, Roger and Paul are all one pointers??? But if Roger's mates come up and play they're worth 4 I take it??

correct. if the James brothers played juniors at Kersbrook they are one pointers from my understanding. I have been wrong from time to time, but from what i have been told by a league administrator that is the case

Interesting forum discussions on ways to even up the competition, but as has been mentioned, every side has its time in the sun. However, what about the concept of an extra tier in the HFL? Perhaps the likes of Cally, Gumeracha, Maccy, Blackwood 2s etc. could be formed into a division which caters for clubs of their standard. Also with 3 divisions, those struggling to match the pace in Div 1, could also drop down to the second level. A promotion and relegation system over the 3 divisions. HFL had multiple divisions in the past, no extra matches, just means those clubs have the chance to compete on an even footing. Some of those clubs have been down  for a few years now and it mite just give them some hope to achieving success.

What about setting up a statewide comp for teams that finish the year with 3 wins or less!!!!

I think if the less successful teams are only playing each other in a new division, there really isn't much hope for players to lift and better themsleves. Believe it or not, belting happen in every sport and it can help you grow as a player.

Hang on, lets look at Mt Barker, Handorf and Lobethal 10 years ago. They were the superclubs of the HFL! There time in the sun is over, tough break... Why are we hitting panic stations about the increase in talent in the HFL? I cant see lofty and uraidla being 1-2 for too much longer

Keep the system as it is

leaving the system as it is is the right way to go i reckon. within 4 or 5 years the same as has happened to barker, lobethal and hahndorf will happen to onkas lofty and uraidla. the only way to ensure an even as possible competition in hfl would be to have a regulation system where wooden spoon from central goes to country and premier from country comes up compulsorily each year.

Can't see Kersbrook getting a cracker unless part of the fine is passed on to them. Atleast 75% should go to Kersbrook you would think. Why should fine go to HFL? Be surprised if it was $2k. Surely Callington can't come up with that sort of dough.

P#ss off! Don't worry about those ladders!
Banker - check my post a earlier today, we both agree on that. I too don't see at all why we're contemplating a new system.
And is that wishful thinking not having Uris and Lofty one and 2 for much longer?

Chook Im with you on
John Floreani and Jarrod McDonald as favourites.

Ebert will get votes taken off him by the Mcleans.

Trzensinki has had an average year but is highly rated by the Lofty Coach.

[quote="magpie in the 80's"]this weeks round to discuss:

CENTRAL July 28th-Round 14
Mt Lofty v Blackwood
Mt Barker v Hahndorf
Onka Valley v Uraidla Dist
Birdwood v Lobethal
Bridgewater v Ironbank

For mine...
Lofty (not a huge one, but business-like)
Barker by 5 goals
Uris by 7 goals
Lobethal by under a goal...even though I thought Birdwood had more to play for, I can't tip em. Good luck to em though.
Ironbank - 4 goals.

If Callington can come up with 2.5k every week to pay ex GSFL footballers who aren't much chop, then surely they can sling Kersbrook a few bob!

Will check up on the results of Cally's misdemenour this arvo. Wonder if the fine includes Kersbrook's lost $ or if that's still a separate issue? It should be. Most Country Div clubs would make well over that for a home game.

The 3 Divisions issue was discussed in earnest at HFL level around 99-2000. It was pooh-poohed at that time, predictably by the clubs which would have been affected. Nairne/Bremer were in Div 1 at that time, so it's interesting to note that if this year's results were used as a formula, they'd be in Div 3 next year. How would it happen:- 7, 7 and 6? 8, 8 and 4 not viable. 8, 7 and 5? Too many byes for Div 3 and they'd play each other once a month. If there were 2 more clubs interested in affiliation, it would be more realistic but I don't think there are.
I would be in favour if the latter happened.
I
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Doubt Div 3 would work but I suppose the C Grade comp is going well and rumour has it that there are a few more clubs interested next year? Could help make up numbers?

Also is it coincidence the Top 4 sides in Central A Grade all field C grade teams?

for the mail medal this year i think ebert has a good chance, also stansborough although in a losing team wont help him out. King in the same boat had a good year, always in the best but not in a winning team. if i had to put money on it i would go trzensinski for back to back!!
