Reckon Hugh's performance in SANFL Grand Final would have dented his chances. He had a shocker, fumbled everything and disposal was ordinary. Think that would have made him slip down the pecking order a fair bit. Think he may get rookie listed by either Crows or Port.

Played well enough to get a premiership medal ;)

Had played well thoughout the other finals

Tough week for the lad. Gets busted by the cops at one end and drafted by Carlton at the other. At least the first one only counts against you for a few years.

Any Sturt supporters know much about Jordan Dawson?

He wanted to get to Carlton so reckon he will be more than happy. The good thing about going to one of the bottom sides is that you are almost guaranteed of starting in round 1

Sydney. Melbourne made the initial bid for him, and Sydney handed over the necessary points to match Melbourne's bid and claim him.

Doesn't this make a mockery of the draft order?

Bout F*CKING TIME we picked up some tall timber. I was disappointed we didn't go for Collins (FB) with pick 23 though.

Now for some forwards.

You have to be ruthless, by forcing Carlton to match the bid it then moved our later picks up a couple of spots. No different to what Richmond did by bidding for all the academy players, more clubs should of done it

Brisbane drafted really well.

Schache, Hipwood, Keays, Mathieson and Skinner. The first 3 will walk into their 22 or be thereabouts come round 1. Mathieson has talent but needs a bit of work and Skinner could be anything if he gets fit. Massive boy (197/96) and was touted as a top 5 pick before injury hit.

So Melbourne had pick 3 made a pick, Sydney came in and snapped up the player and Melbourne were left with nothing? How the hell is that right.?

No. It just means that Sydney had to spend a realistic pick on him and they couldn't get him for a steal like Heeney. Under the old system the Swans could of got Mills for a pick in the late teens, this way cost them about 4 or 5 later picks

No, Melbourne get the next pick (4) and took who they were going to take anyway.

Sydney had rights to Mills as he was an academy player of theirs. Other clubs have the right to bid on certain players, and the academy club (Sydney/GWS/Brisbane/Gold Coast) then have to match that bid by way of points (essentially swapping of lower order draft picks) in order to secure their academy players. If their bid is matched by the academy clubs, then the bidding club (in this case Melbourne), drop to the next pick, and the natural order of the draft descends by 1.

Sydney could have chosen not to match the bid for Mills, but there was no way that Mills/Hopper/Hipwood were going anywhere but their academy clubs.

We didn't match the Bulldogs bid for Dunkley...

Pretty happy with the draft.

They are saying Mills is better than Heeney!
