Doesn't help when your frontline spinner bowls around the wicket leg stump rubbish. He has bowled terrible this test, far too negative

bowled terrible this series for me. too short and too straight.

Doesn't change his pace up anywhere near enough either. Bowls 98% of his deliveries at 89-92km.

A 5 day test match , coming up
Which will help $$$$$$$$
If you like watching cricket for 5 days, you should be satisfied with whats happening the last 2 series in Australia
India and New Zealand have got good batsmen and with placid pitches = formula for 5 days of cricket

However
Can curators prepare docile pitches and get the West Indies into day 5 ?

QUESTION
What do you prefer ?
Flat decks and 5 day cricket
Or Gabba/WACA pitches that are lively, with no guarentee of getting to day 5 ?

I prefer a test where if you bat well enough that on any day you can get 100 and if you bowl well enough in a day you can pick up 5 for. Pitches are too good for batting on day 1 in general. Surviving to lunch means nothing now and we so often see sides setting up declarations a few wickets down nearing 500 halfway through day 2.

One way to fix this is to abolish the toss, let the visiting skipper decide whether to bat or bowl. No local curator is going to just have the opposition a massive advantage through batting first or second and so we'll see pitches designed to give a contest right through.

Lively cricket where there is something happening all the time.

Something for bowlers and batsmen

Hello Ricky LOL.

I love how the Australian cricket public hang shit on the sub-continent countries for providing turning dust bowls to aid them but it's fine for us.

The day 1 wicket was like a day 3 track, flat and lifeless. Day 5 it will be falling a part. Lot of cricket to be played on this one yet.

Considering how dry it looked on day 1 its been remarkable that it hasn't cracked really badly...yet.
This must be one of the relaid wickets. The old wickets would be badly cracked by now in this heat.
I still think there has to be some moisture day 1. But the commercial reality doesn't allow it.

Taylor out for 290. Now he can get back out in the field and chase (numerous replacement pieces of) leather for a day and a half.

Gone to lunch, 0/0, 65 behind.

80-100 to tea, be in front by tea, 100 after tea, be 100-150 in front by stumps?

Hazlewood would want to have a good showing in NZs second innings to stay in the side for mine, been very average in the last 6 months. Yes the pitch has been a good track to bat on, but both Johnson and Hazlewood have bowled some very poor spells.

1/8 - Burns 0

Smith at 3.

Usman listed at 4. I doubt it.

Couldn't agree more. I regularly hear of Hazlewood and Glenn McGrath comparisons and the only differences I can see are his wicket taking ability, durability, economy, versatitility, reliability, control and discipline. APart from that they are one in the same

Judging by this innings, Johnno's already retired, which means Hazlewood probably keeps his place.
Siddle in for Johnston or do they try someone else?
