Well....

The wait in the line to get seated, the wait in the line to order, and the 40 minute wait for our meals to arrive was pretty irritating. Especially since the wise WW had talked this mob up a fair bit.

But!!! The buffet was really good. Like WW said, there was about 20 different things to choose from. The feta salad was good, and i am a bit partial to some seafood extender.

It was good to load up on, because i was almost ready to shit it out by the time the meals arrived.

I got the Beef and Bugs (Scotchy with bay bugs) Pretty much surf n turf. The steak was cooked great. The garnish on top was good. Sauce was on point. Chips.....to diiiie for!.

The missus got the Seafood Trio. Crumbed prawns with an asian sauce, calamari, a prawn & rice combo thing and chips, all on the one plate. I got a bite of a crumbed prawn with the sauce right at the start and it was good. Got the cold calamari once she couldnt eat anymore. I assume ot would be good hot, but was near freezing by the time i got to it.

I got a coke and she got a water. The barman seemed to be a bit annoyed with her going up to top up her ice for her water, but like i said..."f**k him!".

Anyway, it came to about $58 all up with no voucher. $2 under budget.

We probably will go back. Maybe going there on pension day undid us, because its right near an oldie village.

Meals 8/10
Service 4/10 (stood in line for 25 mins)
Oldy to riff raff ratio 10:1 = good

Overall - 6.5/10

Fair enough. Personally I wouldn't wait that long to be seated. I guess the huge numbers suggest the food is good. Glad you enjoyed the food, admittedly I went at lunch on a rainy Tuesday and it was still busy.

You have to get yourself an ent book mate. You get your value for money in 2 meals worth or in my case one day ;)

Went to the Joiners Arms in Hindmarsh on Monday night, 2 for 1 in the book.

Both the wife and I had specials off the board, she had confit duck leg and I had the 250g scotch fillet.

Meals were nice except for my steak (ordered medium) was way over cooked. We were there at 5:30 before a function at the brewery so chef wasn't busy.

$26 for both with voucher

Nothing worse than not cooking a steak correctly. I feel like you shouldn't be allowed to be a pub if you can't do that.

I am a massive fan of not cooking my own breakfast and paying for someone else to do it for me. Here are some hits on my list where the coffee is always 10/10:

Bar 9 on Glen Osmond Rd. Bit of a stalwart now, hard to go past the Runciman's Breakfast, but their specials board always offers up an fairly eclectic range. Pretty much go here when I'm hungover and out of ideas for somewhere new.

Long Lost Friend on Magill Rd. Their eggs benedict with caramelised pulled pork is my #1 breakfast dish at this point in time.

My Kingdom For A Horse on Wright St in the city. A new kid on the block, but the house beans and poached eggs were something special. Am told the eggs benny with ham hock is a beauty as well, so need to go back soon and try more from the menu.

Mr Sunshine's at Thebarton. Not a huge menu, but the house beans with chorizo and poached eggs won't disappoint.

La Carpe Diem on Grenfell St. Best savoury crepes I've had since I visited France.

Finally, a special mention must go to Nev's Deli on Smart Rd. The North East suburbs are a wasteland of good coffee. This place is the oasis in the desert. Great coffee and delicious focaccia.

Agree on Nevs, 2 mins from home. Glad to see they haven't thrown all their focus on ARGO.

Nevs Deli is the best deli I've ever been too! Went there to grab some lunch when the missus was getting a tattoo done down the road. I made the most of my visit and had a big feed, can't quite remember what I had but damn it was good.

Rumour has it that they'll be selling Nev's as they want to open a third Argo.

Never been to Loose Caboose, but I'll add it to my visit list.
