hey d/w had an interesting day on sat went to the footy at Virginia watch a young lad of 13 get king hit from behind (run 30m to do it) united player show real talent to pick out the smallest kid on the field :? well done lad :? then to watch the most mind boggling umpiring display i have witnessed in 40years of football, the spectators agreed you would have to go to the zoo to see a performance like that . yep a great day at the footy. 8)

The only joke at moment is Virginia attempt at fielding a B grade team capable of getting within 25 goals of anyone. I understand that loosing your senior coach halfway through the year is catastrophic for a club, but i really hope and im sure most other people do that Virginia can find some players at least for next season, so that the Apfl dont loose another team. For the sake of your credibility as a club i hope you continue to fill a team for remainder of the season.

Not by the way it turned out on the weekend, Swampy, not one of the Rooster's more memorable games! :(

Despite what you may read from some corners on this forum, there is some very handy, very quick footballers out here in the plains, Old Schubert has come out of retirement on the sniff of some finals success and has kicked bags, will it happen with Big Willy in the square? Schub's a big unit, even Willy might struggle to stand on those shoulders. My point is, There may not neccesarily be a spot for the Bigger blokes when the game is speeding up. Mallala the perfect Example.

I'm Going to go into bat for the Umpires
Dougie and Prousey umpired the game on Sat between Mallala and Two Wells, they umpired A-Grade and B-Grade consecu...consicut...one after the other!!
a herculion effort when you consider the amount of shit that was thrown at them from all and sundry, The Rooster (talking about myself in the Third person, Already past tense! not a good sign) was heard to say "Jesus, Dougie, Your Ruining the spectacle!!" during the B-
Grade, little did i know that they had the A-Grade Gig. #-o
Despite what you say about the Ump's the fact they would do this is a good endorsment for the boys, and if anyone continue's to bag em maybe they should pull on the white shirt and sand shoes and have a Crack!! They would be put to work thats for sure.

so what you are saying the pt w/f eagles should be ashamed of their u17 getting beat by 40 odd goal"s, no player's play sport to loss. but some club's have problems feilding side's for whatever reason so i personally don't bag these people whom persist week in week out. but that's your style good luck to u and your family

Well Bugger me, maybe there is a case for big units to sit forward, i saw that big whiskey kicked 10 on saturday as well, Chris Prime kicking an absolute motza of goals over at tumby!!

Maybe the Big units still have a place on the Paddock!!

PS: Had to laugh when a Mallala player trying to pick up the Pill near the boundary on sat, suddenley looked up and Saw big Wattsy barreling towards him, i guess he must have expected a shepard, because when he looked up, the poor lad was heard to to say "Shit!!" Upon the Blacking out of the sun, Watts Lucklily for that lad, went straight through and took the Aggot away and left him feeling the back of his shorts. Funny though, you rarely hear a players exclamation so clearly!!

Juniors is a different story, and most clubs go through a lull at some point with their juniors which is what is happening with the eags at the moment. I commend the blokes that do front up but not sure what my family has to do with anything yogie! For the record what exactly are those reasons why you can barely fill a b side?

If possible i would like to do a bit of a survey with as many lads as possible here:
The question is for your respective club, how many players actually train during the week, given a game on saturday? So on average at each session, how many players come to training?
For instance,
Mallala: Tuesdays = 19-23 players, Thursdays = 33-36 players
United:
Two Wells:
Virginia:
Balaklava:
Eagles:
Hamley:

Please fill in the blanks.

Fax, i dont know how the eagles colts got brought into that argument. I guess the difference might be that if you blokes cant field senior teams then your longevity in the APFL is under threat. While the Hummocks seniors continue to be successful, and attract players at that level, then we can continue to carry the young fellas through their tough times. Young kids rocking up and getting beaten every week shows more character than senior blokes who dont rock up because they get beaten every week. Maybe you should be recruiting from the colts rather than average amateur league clubs. As for bagging umpires, we all do it during the game but realistically it is because we can but realistically, if we thought about how important they are and how good a job they do to allow us to play on saturdays, we would probably ease up a bit. Didnt see the king hit but if it was as bad as you say, then disappointing nothing was done about it but like rooster pulled me up on the sledging, i have to pull virginia up on the behind the play complaints! Plenty of glass houses out that way though.
Pilbara, bout time i had some support on here. Stick around cos the hair is growing back as we speak.

Just on that alledged king hit, i dare say wedgie, python would agree here, that really if an incident like that occurs in a colts game particularly as it involves young kids, it should really be dealt with by the club that the lad is playing for. However if they are unaware of it this cant happen. Personally i would like to see you just give someone at the eags a call and let them know about it. Im almost 100% certain that people around the club at the eagles would like these incidents reported and im sure that if they knew that one of thier own belted someone behind the play, someone within the club would take him aside and deal with appropriately. So i suggest rather than have a grizzle here, use your brain and be useful by giving someone at the eagles a call and talk about it properly. I guarantee that even jared, joel or anyone around the place, even blokes like grant manno would be willing to have a chat to him and let him know that is unacceptable.

i completely agree swamp. I must admit i didnt read it all that carefully but didnt think it involved Hummocks so i will go back a re read. If it is a hummocks boy i will take it up with the club myself. I havnt been out to any games for a few weeks so have been a little in the dark. Without knowing who it was and without too much detail, if it was an eagle and it was a disgraceful act, then they would have no position available at our club next week, or the remainder of the year and would have to prove themselves before they were able to play ever again. That stuff doesnt belong in this club or league. Your are right, the wilsons would have no problems at all about pulling him aside.

Bout the same at Two wells - 20-25 tuesday and prob 25-35 thursday night, may have something to do with Dave Humphries (TW Butcher) supplying massive rump Steaks for tea on thursday, or more likely, topless barmaids on after training at the commercial hotel across the road!! :partyman:

I probably eat more than my share just quietly, Don't need the watermelon covered in Gravy though! Proably need to look at a few other choices for side dishes, bit of watermelon is lovely, but not on your chips smothered in gravy.

yeah my bad Wedgie! Looking forward to the new look with the locks, must admit dont reckon ive seen you with hair. Theres only so much a good beanie can do hey.
Rumps sound good Rooster, but dunno if id mix the watermelon this time of year, definately a selection best suited to warm summer days.
Can the experienced Rooster offer any tips for an amateur like myself working thru the nervous 90's?
