My thoughts on the day. Kudo's to Kapunda for putting on a good show, oval was pristine and canteen/bar facilities were more than adequate. Beautiful day for football, not a breath of wind and the sun was out along with the skin
Crowd seemed a little down on previous years, only 4 clubs represented on the footy side of things and pretty similar in the netty was my understanding. Nuri played some scintilating top shelf footy as did Centrals in the ressies but the atmosphere was a little flat as no grades were really close and all were done by half time. Got there at half time of the 15's and that was pretty much over with South about 6 goals up, Nuri had a crack but the result was never in doubt. Similar tale in the 17's, Central had a big lead at 3/4 time and although Barossa had a dip the result was a formality.
The ressies was a cracking contest for a quarter and Nuri led at the first break but thats where it ended. Nuri failed to score anything again until deep in the last whilst in the meantime Centrals piled on about 15 goals. One of the best B grade performances ive seen, real good skills and several Centrals players should be playing A grade or would at other clubs. As Jim05 mentioned King and Heberle were very good, both kicked bags each.
On to the main game, Nuri started off with a bang with 4 goals before Centrals scored, a small fightback ensued before Nuri closed out the quarter with a couple. Second quarter pretty much killed off the contest with Nuri playong some awesome footy, too much pace and skill for Centrals who looked slow and fumbly. Central's cause not helped with Mercer being sent off for a crude attack from behind. Third quarter was more of the same and you got the feeling Nuri had the job done well and truly midway through the quarter. Centrals had a real go at it in the last with Brading putting on a clinic but the result was never in doubt. Nuri deserved premiers, best side in the comp this year by a country mile. Everyone has a bit of work to do in the offseason to catch up
