I enjoy reading the Sunday Mail sports section usually but this crap article comes on top of the recent pathetic rave by the Sports Editor who suggested that getting rid of the Port Magpies in the SANFL would increase the amount of Port Power supporters in the AFL. WTF????

well if that is the level (country football)(not having a go at country footy as it is tough) jesper feels then he should acquit himself very well with 'sanfl old hacks' in a legends game, when they have the next one & lets see how he goes i'd suggest these men would be irritated at these comments & go in a bit harder than the normal social match you'd expect to see


& to the present day if the sanfl is so far behind then why doesn't EVERY AFL LISTED PLAYER DOMINATE AN SANFL GAME ?

Well...I'd like to lay down the challenge for Jesper to head to a game - incognito, NOT with a funny hat, a bevy of photographers, Today Tonight, three other "journos" (such as Walsh, Hook or the like), anyone from 5AA or the need to make a big hullabaloo about the whole day, and at least get an informed opinion about what he is writing about. Better still, wander up to a few random fans and start a conversation with them, WITHOUT telling them who you are and why you are there, and ask them what the love about the SANFL. Who knows, you may even learn something from it.

Maybe a counter could be begun for it, like that God-awful, totally unfunny, totally unnecessary garbage in the Wednesday Boast or whatever Rucci's Thompson counter is called.

Having read the board re this topic, decided I better reopen the mail and read his article...I get the Mail mainly for the regional & amatuer footy results. What a load of CRAP...
Jesper should come to the Bay next weekend and have a chat to Supe & Cornsey, and give some ryhme and reason for the crap he has written.
Make sure he's on Snouts Hill for it too so I can watch the rain of empty tinnies come falling around his head !

Leper did do the writeup for the recent Bays-Sturt game. But since he was full of praise for Chambers' game, we can conclude he was not actually at the match. More than likely he turned on the radio for the five-minute summary afterwards and compiled his report from this.

The average AFL follower would know this, so, so should a journo writing for the city's major Sunday paper as well (or he should be able to correctly attain the info whilst doing research).

As I understand, Ebert had a good year at North Melbourne, I think Victorians expected him to win the Brownlow or something.

For the record, in his one year in the VFL Ebert was North Melbourne's highest kick winner and third highest Brownlow poller - behind former winner Gary Dempsey and future winner Ross Glendinning! He even polled more than Blighty!
