carltons losing their first pick player from years ago, who theyve developed & supported for years sure

but they made the choice on that player years ago,

im sure melbourne would quite happily see jack watts leave, theyd be insisting on it if they can get the latest best kid in the country instead

meanwhile, brisbane who legitimately need the 2nd best kid, loses because carlton made a poor decision years ago in choosing kruezer

every club in the comp should get their deserving pick, and then carlton gets a free pick after all the clubs get their first player at the draft, ie: pick 19

No, Brisbane lose out because they've clearly created an environment that people don't want to be a part of. That's their fault, nobody else's and they do not, IMO, deserve a priority pick. Hey, if other clubs suffered because of Carlton's shit decision making there would be no AFL at all.

As for Watts, it isn't his fault the Demons recruiting staff got it horribly wrong. If he was taken at pick 18,22,37, whatever, he'd not be as maligned as he is for being a #1 pick.

Brisbane also lose out for playing to the line, and winning their final game .. Pretty costly exercise for doing the right thing.

I reckon Melbourne would be happy to get a large bag of Skittles for Watts.

I shouldn't be too critical of Watts, one week Sportsbet had an offer that if he took 4 marks and laid 4 tackles he'd pay $4, I whacked a redback on him and he came through with about a minute to go.

It's a load of frog snot hey?

Maybe to reduce the notion of tanking, they have numbers 15 through to 23 with each number representing a round number, draw a number out at the end of the season and where your club is sitting after that round determines the draft order.

A compo pick is awarded after your pick so Carlon could of got pick 2&3.
If and thats a big IF Carlton get a band 1 compo for Kreuzer they will now get 1&2. No way will they get band 1 for him IMO unless someone offers him a stupid deal

They need to go to the lottery system the NBA has, for the bottom four at least.

Me too. I think Kruezer is one of the most over valued / rated players in the game.

Better to be over-rated than not rated at all. Luey had potential a few years ago, he is absolutely shit now. Somehow managed to be named 14 times this season averaging under 8 disposals a game along with his two marks (that would've been chest marks running down the clock in defence) and under 20 hit outs.
Kreuzer has never hit the expectations we all had of him but I'd rather an injured Kreuzer than a fit Luey.

Pies reportedly offering $600k a year. That'll likely be band 1 and pick 2 to the blues

I just dont think this is a good move. Grundy and Witts are very capable and really will Kruzer give you that much more and at that price.

It is due to his role change. Is firmly second ruck to Martin now, so plays more Forward-Ruck than anything else.

In the two games that Martin missed in rounds 14 and 15, Luey averaged 9 touches, 47 hitouts and 6.5 tackles a game, which is what i think he would do again if he was the number 1 ruckman

i guess its debatable whether he can get back to that form, but i reckon he can.

yeah both he and kreuzer are definitely a gamble due to their bodies.

someone like the dogs would love a mobile ruckman though, would fit into their gameplan well
