No excuses for the Redbacks

Postby Rik E Boy » Sun Feb 19, 2006 4:12 pm

I reckon the Redbacks are a fair chance to be acquiring some silverware this season. Watching NSW struggling against the Warriors at the moment and the thing that is missing along with the international representatives is smart cricket. A full strength Redbacks side should be able to knock off the Blues in the ING final, there can be no excuses if the boys come up short again this season..it's all there lads, all you have to do is take it...

regards,

REB

ps - at the Gabriellia Qld are 7/213 with Dizzy snagging four wickets. Win that one outright and the Backs are top of the Moo Moo as well.

NSW have domintated this season. There is no way they should have lost the home final. The pressure is on them not to completely stuff it up.

Does anyone know whether Sunday's game is a day/nighter and how it's going to work considering the Australian/Indian women's game is on then as well?

Out of the (full strength) Blues side that played the Warriors yesterday

Katich
Clark
McGrath
Bracken
Lee

Players missing from the Redbacks side who were bowled out for 114 at the Gabba today (pffft)

Elliott
Cullen

Now who is it exactly who have thrown it away recently?? The reason why NSW have dominated is because NSW PLAYERS HAVE PLAYED WELL ENOUGH TO DESERVE INTERNATIONAL SELECTION. 5hite, we've even got a bloke who has played well enough who is now staying home. When they are out we will start to struggle, it aint rocket surgery.

Here endeth the lesson.

I know we are hosting the one day final so its hard to critise but this is the second game in a row that we have lost outright, very disspointing. I have never known a team at that level to be so up and down and be unable to stop a collapse when a wicket falls.

6/189

I think Graham Manou should put on a show at the Fringe. He could do his famous disapearing act just when the team needs him to stand up. Deitz copped the blame after the last game in Adelaide, what will the selectors do this time?

I was really hoping Manou would give us something today, but no this time. Or anytime.

true, but after the last game it seemed Deitz was the problem. Yet we get rid of him and the opening partnerhips for the game were 5 and 1.

Not reallu sure what point I am trying to make so I don't expect anyone else to understand it  ,

I just think the last two performances have been the old redbacks. Nothing short of pathetic, when the heat was on. The thing that saves them is the lack of interest in them after so many poor performances they get away with it.

The Redbacks have been badly let down by players like And Flower and Matthew Elliott through injuries. They've worked on the top order batting but it just isn't working for them. I like players such as Borgas and Ferguson so I'd like to see them persevered with for now. The other Borgas has been clocking up runs in the Grade comp as an opener, I wonder if he's worth a look.

Although i believe if Elliot gets himself fit for next season, he will score plenty of runs for us. Unlike flower that just looked crap.

It's a safe bet if Redbacks bat first, and neither Boof nor Cosgrove fire, then the Redbacks will lose.
If they bowl first - well who knows? Tait/Dizzy/Rofe/Cullen etc could knock them over very cheaply, or they could get smacked around the park by Jaques & Co.

Either way should be a good game!!
