Yarran might get them a 3rd rounder; Henderson maybe a 2nd round pick.
The ones with really decent value - eg. Murphy - would be who they'd never let go of I suspect.

Friday I went to the Hawthorn/Richmond match. You could see how both teams set up when the opposition had possession, clinical, routine-like. Whilst it wasn't a goalfest, both teams had purpose moving into attack for extended periods, ie there was some plan/direction.
Saturday night I saw North/Carlton live. North did everything I mentioned in the previous game - Carlton don't do any of it.
They barely have any structure or defensive plan and have no method whatsoever going forward. Barker was right in what he said post match - some blokes had given up & stopped running halfway through the third qtr.
Whoever gets the coaching gig at Princes Pk is going to need patience & a shit load of it.

There's zero chance of taking them to a premiership ( unless a Sheedy like reign unfolds ) and it's unlikely that there'd be any sort of success in the short ( 3 year ) to medium ( 5-7 years ) term and thus resigning yourself to be a one club coach as you'll have your papers stamped by the other clubs as a no go zone.
What's the money on Barker to get the job? Looks like Primus at Port all over again.

One could argue that at the time, Hinkley was on a hiding to nothing taking on the Port job. At the end of season 2012, we were considered to be in the predicament that Carlton find themselves in now.
Sometimes players under a new leader can find a new lease and exceed expectation. The question for Carlton will be- is there a coach in the Hinkley, Beveridge, Walsh (RIP) mould with the experience and leadership capable of turning their list around. The likely answer looking at the candidates is probably not. Bolton maybe?

Do you think the Port list at the end of 2012 was in a better or worse shape than Carlton 2015?

Would be plenty of good quality guys interested. Would be a minimum contract of say 2-3 years, the worse that can happen is you get sacked and they pay out your contract. Best case is you get them motivated and they start winning a few games and in 2 years time you can negotiate a far bigger pay cheque
