How does that work Insider? Is that to do with internal politics within the club?

Well if they dont win it this year the blokes that have got 3 from town WILL head back to town. If they do win they will stay and try for 5 in a row. I know a Mail medalist there was not going to play this year unless he got more coin. Reckon that if Hills keeps getting bagged from the locals he will go and take Trev with him.

If the town players left GWW do u think that they have the depth to make finals without them?

Thats an interesting situation Insider. If there is one club who can manage to recruit players though its Jervois. If they lost Ewer, Woodhouse, Schmidt, the Rigneys etc i'm pretty sure they'd manage to replace them because they really do appear to have a big money pool (and contacts).

I only follow the league from a distance Insider, but i do read match reports every week (and you'd probably be a fair bit better placed to have an opinion on that than me). They have got some good locals such as Hill, Baxter and Jarvis, and some good kids such as Kluske and Brion. Whether or not they could still make the finals if they lost Ewer and Woodhouse and most of their existing imports though, i'm not sure, would depend on the number of and quality of their replacements, and also the extent to which clubs such as Meningie, Tailem and Mypo improve. If the Bloods did lose some players and weren't looking to be premiership threats, i dont think Richards would stick around either.

GWW your spot on. the one man they need to retain is the assistant coach Mahony. As for the locals Baxter has only just decided to play this year i think 3 weeks ago. Hill is a gun and Jarvis does some absolutely freakish things. Also Richards only decided to coach on late. Once again i think its all up to retaining Mahony he is the bloke with the contacts.

Yeah Mahoney is probably the most influential person/player at Jervois. A goalkicker, and someone who plays well in big games.

Was interested to see Hill named in the Zone game. With scouts likely to be at those games, you'd think he'd get some SANFL offers if he plays well. I dont know him though so would be unsure if he'd have ambitions to play at a higher level, any thoughts on that Insider?

Hill was named best under 21, on the wing in team of the year and in the State Country Squad.
Also looks a lot like a dark haired james blunt. lol

Tailem are in all sorts of strife- Crowy they had the money this year but no one wanted to play!! Denty is interesting because you are right when playing he can be very good and leads by example- but if not playing (and i think his body is just about done) might struggle to lead the same way. Interesting that Graetz or Muffy could be back- my mail is that they were asked to take pay cuts this year to fit in all the "new" recruits- that is why they left in the first place- can't see them rushing back.

Pfft Lock in Graetz for a transfer....Please tell me your joking! Why would he leave Ironbank where he is playing well, team is in 4th. Real Young team which will only get better. Loves the club and always there on sat night drinking up. I may be wrong but can't see it happening. Muffy has been talking to us about how he loves the place and is keen on sticking around for another year.

I'll add to that by saying what is there to head back for? Not having a dig at TB directly (as every club goes through tough times) but correct me if I am wrong, Smelty was certainly responsible for getting Howser & Wendels there, Graetzy seems certain to stay with Howser (as they are good mates) & Muffy is a multiple B&F/MM winner "LOCAL" that couldn't be retained?

Posted earlier was a statement that TB has the coin, cannot think why they would let players of this calibre walk out the door & expect to lure them back the following year? Perhaps if IB were struggling you'd back yourself in, however things are flying along nicely at Thunder Park and would be surprising to all if these lads ventured anywhere in 08.

Whilst you make some fair points, i doubt Smelty was responsible for Wendleborn going to IB as he went there a year earlier than the others ie. whilst Smelty was still coaching Tailem. It was actually Wendleborn who i believe was primarily involved in getting the other 3, along with Smelty (once he'd left the club), to Ironbank.

Spot on press secretary TWE... thanks for clearing that up!

Apologies there GWW should have been a little clearer, my point was now that C Smelt has moved on I wonder what the boys might head back that way for (other than Muff who's local)?

Obviously they would have made some good mates there but having done it (changed clubs) a couple times myself I'd be hesitant to go into an atmosphere I didn't quite know... especially if Denty has changed things up a bit.

And if Smelter was responsible for helping the lads along to IB then I must buy him a SC & coke next time I see him, I know Ex was the instigator in getting Wendels to IB in 06 (with the hope of Howser & co. following), it took an extra year but was well worth the wait thus far...

This aint got nothing to do with the football league, but i'm hoping someone from the River Murray region can explain to me what the hell (excuse the profanities) is going on with the Anglican church and sacking priests.
What's the whole story behind it?
Can someone sum it all up?

Question: Have Tailem Bend got the money to make themselve competitive in 2008. Is Dent really the man to do the job?

Big upset by Mypo on the weekend, defeating Jervois by 10 goals. Would be interesting to know if Jervois rested some players, although in the results, it looks as though their gun players Mahoney, Ewer, and Trevor Rigney played. Will be interesting to see if this loss costs the Bluds top spot to Imps who are red hot at the moment. Their forward line (Harrowfield, Sayers and Shiell) looks awesome and was obviously way too much for a young Tailem Bend side.

Hard to believe how much Mannum has gone down hill since the first half of the season. They were a realistic chance for a top 3 spot and would have been considered a chance to do some damage in the finals but now they're struggling. Ramblers in awesome form with some of their key midfielders, O'Neill and Viney kicking big goal tallies.

Whats the story with Geradi from Ramblers? Seems to kick bags then doesn't get a mention for a while. Has he had problems with injury?
