Jim you're more optimistic about Glenelg than I am; Crows would surely have beaten us had the lights stayed on a few weeks ago, they were running all over us. I fear the spoon will be staying right where it is.

The game in which Stephen Riley broke Roger Luders jaw.....

Roger was never the same after that and after relatively quiet years in 1986 and 1987 he retired at the end of 1987

I listened interstate ( behind enemy lines ) and the commentators were using phrases like " training session ", " witches hats " etc etc. For the first 3 quarters, hardly a Bay player was called. By the time the 4th came along, it was foot off the pedal and junk time made the scoreboard flatter us ! Even Riley Milne had a good day out. He did NOTHING when he was at The Bay !

Sure we have injuries, and Alleway had " a scheduled weekend holiday ", but the club is still proving to all that it is nothing more than a social club with a nice bistro, lights that almost work, and a cricket oval in the summer.

Too many years of " we're in development mode " and " bring back mickan " for my liking.

Got to get this bile out of my system !

Yet my mantra is still " GO YOU MIGHTY BAYS " !

After that opening nine minutes of the third quarter when Westies hadn't gone inside 50 or scored while Glenelg had kicked 2.2 to reduce the deficit to 51 points, it seemed as though the Bays were going to show some fight and that West would settle for a 40-60 point win.

Then there were two absolutely incredible bursts of play in that second half that showed Glenelg up as nothing but traffic cones for 10 minutes.

Porplyzia had a big impact in both these bits of play - kicked three in one and an assist in another. Beech kicked two and two assists and Fielke kicked three.

Q3 9m-23m
14 mins
Score - Glenelg 0.0, West 8.0
Inside 50s - Glenelg 4, West 8
Rebound 50s - Glenelg 0, West 4
Kicks - Glenelg 12, West 31
Tackles - Glenelg 4, West 3

Q4 13m-21m
8 mins
Score - Glenelg 0.0, West 6.1
Inside 50s - Glenelg 1, West 6
Rebound 50s - Glenelg 0, West 1
Kicks - Glenelg 8, West 28
Tackles - Glenelg 1, West 2

In those bits of play, West went inside 14 times to 5 for 14.1 to 0.0. In that 22-minute combined period, 15 Glenelg players had either 1 disposal or nothing. Johansen, Nicholson and Earl combined for 18 of Glenelg's 30 disposals (to West's 84) in those combined times.

In the last 19 seasons (1996-2014) Central have done it four times, Eagles once. Last time was Rd 13 2007:

It's the first time a side has scored 30.9 in a match.

Who did the Eagles kick theirs against Spelly? Remember we kicked 30 against North in '93 and a few big scores in 2000, but can't remember 30.
Didn't Port go close against the Bays last year (or are those not included in the records? ;) )
While it's not good for the Bays, it's good to see a team kick 30 goals and really finish the game off and not buggerize around and win by 12 goals.

Eagles kicked 30.13.193 at Unley in 2006, with Passador kicking ten straight, although I seem to recall he kicked one out on the full, or that was touched or that fell short or something.

That speaks more about the club environment he is now in, than his ability. Most players that depart the bay, unfortunately become better for it.
