That’s part of the game, and for the strength of the comp, these players need to play when fit, even if it means second week and a side loses as a result of their performance.

Have no issue with state players returning mid game provided they were injured playing for SACA. As I said Trent desperately wanted to play both weeks but failed the fitness test for week 1.

This sort of stuff is always going to happen and Adelaide were on the other side of the coin last year v TTG. Had them 8 down chasing 130 or less still needing plenty and Travis Head subbed in as the not out batsman overnight (forget who was slashed) he got them over the line.

*SACA selectors please feel free to leave Shrek, Fud and Raph behind from this week's trip to Brisbane so we are full strength ;)

Your wish Heater has not come true!!

Both Valente and Lawford in the 12 to play QLD, but you do keep Raf!

Barnes was reported on the weekend too, that would be massive loss now if he got suspended with the other two out.

Go Prospect, lol!!

Yep it's all unraveling.....Barnes never reported before so who knows what they will do. I don't know what charge either. Injuries at the obligatory end of season fun drill too

What's the end of season fun drill?[/quote]
Just mucking around....now we have an injury as a result not really a cricket related drill either.

Not to the big, burly left arm quickie who is still terrorising young kids in the lower grades I hope?!

Nah that bloke doesn't need anymore injuries added to his long list of current injuries.

A few upsets in the final round. Sturt toppled TTG, Prospect winners over Adelaide and East Torrens dropping the points to Southerns.

Reckon that leaves it Wdv vs WT and TTG vs Kens in the two semi finals but that might be wrong.

Yep, that looks to be the case. The battle of the West in one semi and the battle of the East in the other.
Well done to all four teams for making the finals, but especially the Mighty Eagles!

Horrendous weekend for us

First of all, very disappointing finish to a good season. SACA high performance once again fail Grade Cricket. Why take 2 bowlers to Brisbane to battle it out for 1 spot then leave the left out bowler up there to mix Gatorade and miss out on a club game? Why not take the previous game's 12th man as his club had the bye and send the unused bowler home (didn't matter if it was Benton or Valente).

Exposed our fragile mental state as our best bowler was missing and all but a couple of batsmen froze in the moment.

Huge learning experience and we move on. The boys are going to have to freeze their arse off in winter and get better. Hopefully we retain everyone and maybe identify any gaps that need to be filled.

Firstly, was great weekend for us, thanks Prospect!

Agree, taking Valente and not playing him is pretty poor by SACA. You learn to take the good with the bad with your Redbacks players though, last week Adelaide would not have won without Lawford coming in for the second week of the game, no doubt about that, so evens out in he end. We used to rely on Kelvin Smith to make runs or we were stuffed, we now know he will hopefully not be playing for us, so are building a team to win without him. If he plays, like finals this week, then it is an added bonus.

Adelaide were always up against it this week, basically there Number 3, 4 and 5 batsmen out, plus three of the 4 main bowlers, excluding Neate. Just left Raf, and once he failed the rest by themselves struggle. Barnes cost the team big time, the way he carried on last week when given LBW was pathetic, and he rightly got suspended. With Cam and Lawford out, was the last thing they needed.

Last year Port were in the same position as us, needing to win last round and couple of results go their way to make finals, then they went on and won premiership, hope it is a sign of things to come, but long way to go yet!

With season over for most thought Id put together a report card for each club would be interested to get peoples opinions also

In ladder order -
Woodville: great season to finish top after losing Sayers' family at the start of the year. Would have tipped them to finish bottom 4 at the start of the season.
Tea Tree Gully: very consistent no white ball flag this year maybe the season they win the 2 day comp - my tip for premiership
Kensington: good season finishing in good form, best player in the comp Browny back to back bradmans maybe? Winner of this semi wins the comp IMO
West Torrens: great improvement from last season to make finals Smith & Ferguson crucial ins this week - fancy them to knock Woodville off
Adelaide: another good improving season Raphael a standout probably favourite for bradman with Brown,
Sturt: don't miss the finals 2 yrs in a row very often but they have a young side, pretty reasonable finish and finalists in one day comp
East Torrens: won the one day comp which is a good effort but have missed the finals again in 2 day cricket. One of the best sides on paper have underachieved again.
Southern Districts: pretty regulation season by the stingrays they finish 7-10 every year.
University: Good to see Delmont back but they struggled without their Redbacks being available.
Glenelg: Horrible season by our boys, T20 premiership aside - very disappointing had a great side on paper - here's to next year!
Port Adelaide: showed that last seasons premiership was a fluke back to bottom 3 as per usual
Northern jets: a shocker of a year they have lost a fair few players and need to recruit hard right through grades
Prospect: bottom again but at least their lower grades did a bit better, maybe some good juniors coming through.

Im predicting a Tea tree Gully vs West Torrens grand final with Gullies to go one better than last year and win!

Nice post C Horse

I'll make a different list; young players who have impressed me from each club

Woodville - Blake Gutschke, left hand opening bat. Has some real class and x factor. Only played B's so far but is still U/16. From Yorke Peninsula.
Tea Tree Gully - Jack Holliday, right hand bat. Rock solid. Good technique.
Kensington - David Grant, tall pace bowler. Very smooth and easy action, like Freddie Couples. Effortless.
West Torrens - Spencer Johnson, left arm quick. Swings them nicely. Has improved his pace this year. Perfect bowler to use that ocean breeze at Henley, like Harrity did.
Adelaide - Cameron Bullard, right hand bat. Smashes them!
Sturt - Corey Sinclair, left hand bat. Strikes them well. Pretty stylish. Don't think he's played A's yet but will soon I reckon.
East Torrens - Ayden McGregor-Baptista, class batter. Also bowls offies. Bit of talent, backs himself. Hits them well.
University - ????
Southern Districts - don't really know their players
Port Adelaide - Austin Umpherston, right hand bat. Good head on his shoulders, has made some runs under pressure.
Glenelg - Jack Pudney, pace bowler. Pretty damn quick and should get faster when he fills out his frame. Also going to throw in Ben Bullimore who has been around a few years in A Grade and had a really good season but I reckon can go to another level and churn out some big tons. Is only 20-21, actually reckon he's good enough to play state cricket by 23 like Lehmann did this year.
Northern Districts - don't really know their players
Prospect - Harvey Brennan, right hand bat. Also bowls leggies. Tied up with school cricket but I reckon he goes ok.

Id also add Pat Page Jnr, hasnt played much due to school and now injury but the kid is all class an far more mature than his 16 years of age would suggest. IMO Page, Bullimore, Grant, Pudney are all serious contenders for pushing state selection in the next few years*.

Yep forgot about him. Held both the u/17 & u/19 batting line ups together this year.

Hopefully with the correct coaching should become a feature in years to come.

What's our tips for this weekend.

I think West Torrens may be the smokey to get up over Woodville.

TTG and Kensington will be a cracker, but the Bulls will be too good

Live scores for the finals anywhere online? QCA Grade Final is being Live Streamed this season. Would be great for the SACA to do the same. Redbacks home games had the best online coverage all season with reliable and good quality feed and commentary more often than not.

Frustrating day at Woodville Oval. Woodville bats disciplined and batting time, they only need a draw and could bat for 2 days if they're good enough. 2 wickets to Kelly in the last couple of overs of the day give the Eagles a sniff going in to day 2. Woodville 6/228. If they get to lunch it will make it hard for West Torrens, but the Eagles do have the fire power if quick runs are needed.

Tea Tree Gully look to have booked a GF berth at stumps on day one. 5/339 with Head on 165 not out. TTG also just need a draw.

I'm sorry this system of non-compulsory declarations is a disgrace. Batting first is already an advantage in a final but knowing you just have to bat for 2 days is the reason a team scores just over 2 runs an over in a whole day!
