this particular recruit was taking himself a sign on of between $3k-$5k with a $350-$400 a game match fee - he also mentioned that the club wasn't looking to take things to seriously this year and that they were very much just rebuilding..... Thats a lot of coin to rebuild with!!
Is there a salary cap in the APFL?
I dont think the Dublin Pub is the Money Backer, They are a sponsor. As do most clubs they would work extremely hard at rasing money, the did rais $15k just from a player auction at the start of the year, and that i serouis money for any club.
Yes there is a salary cap $25K I think including coach Fee.

ok who was drop of any note 2 Bs at virginia last season ?fact is the apfl issued us a list incuding locals some over 35 years of age and had played more B grade game than A's his name on the not to play listleftriteout wrote:Lets just go with the facts here.
These are the number of imports each club can have this year (2007)
- based on population and results over last 5? years
HWE - 4
Balaklava - 3
Two Wells - 5
United - 6
Mallala - 6
Virginia - 6
Hamley Bridge - 7
on the 7th July this is how many imports played
HWE - 1
Balaklava - 2
Two Wells - 2
United - 5
Mallala - 6 (last game june 30)
Virginia - 5
Hamley Bridge - 4
obviously the import rule only applies to A-Grade.
- why should it matter to the B-grade???
(it wouldnt/couldnt have stopped the years where teams like two wells / virginia dropped A-grade players back to B-grade to qualify - surely this is more of a crime???)

Dogwatcher wrote:Fax - if you have such a problem with the association, get on board at season's end and do something about it. Or ensure that your club has a board representative strong enough to do something about your club's obvious concerns.
No point bleating on here over and over about it if you ain't gonna be part of fixing the problem.

I understand that Longies already have to deal with import rotations to fit them all in, John Warrior has been playing in the two's, you would have to think that he would be better than that!!
Longies have to understand that if they are going to do this sort of thing (spending big bucks and recruiting big names), they wil have to take it on the chin if success doesn't come or things don't go well long term, cause thats what they're headed for.
I agree Rooster, you think they would have learnt from the mid to late 90's when all they we doing is loosing grand finals and paying the big bucks!!!!! Wheres the development coming from?? Is that important to these clubs. They currently have some great young talent in thier senior colts its a shame to see them not getting more chances in the A's for the sake of their improvement. With such a strong A' grade side, i would be filtering these young blokes through slowly just to give them a taste of it, otherwise at the end of this year, there will be 12-14 18yr old kids too old for colts and wondering whether they should hang around and maybe play the odd A grade game next season or go elsewhere. "Its not all about the glory every year boys, development is important too"
bit like mallala with all their imports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(too bad when JH goes to clare next year....)

If you think Mallala is stacking thier side with imports and making local players sit out you prob should get out and watch them. Paul Blackett and Alphy May are the oldest blokes playing, then it falls back to Josh and Whitty whom are 24-25. Unfortunately there wasa big gap there in the youth but in the next 2-3 years their strong development of kids should become obvious. However the imports are young blokes that Mallala are also putting the time into to try and develop because these boys have left their home club on the west coast to come and work or study in Adelaide and need a home club to base themselves and help improve thier footy. leftrightout sitting on the fence. Id say your club was decimated with injuies whn you played the pies, like everyone else? That attitute sounds familiar! Sore L
