AFL club Richmond had been canvassing the idea of entering a team into the NBL but it seems that's been put on hold for now:

Richmond Football Club has investigated fielding a team in the National Basketball League but not in its famous yellow-and-black colours.

Fairfax Media understands Richmond were working in secret with the NBL in a bid to run a second Melbourne franchise with a group of Tigers' staff building a proposal which met all the NBL's criteria except for attracting the independent money needed to fund the early seasons.

It is understood the bid to get a team up and running in the 2015-16 season has stalled after the club ran out of time and required more financial backing. Club officials are still to decide whether to continue the process for the 2016-17 or beyond.

The Tigers wanted to attract new financial backing for its NBL side.

The NBL side would not play as Richmond Tigers due to the AFL's demands to keep sole use of club identities. This also prohibited the use of the much-loved yellow and black colours.

Awesome win, 93-88. I really thought we were going to blow that game when they came back and took the lead late in the 4th but we held on.

I think we won both games in NZ last season but up until then our record over there had been really poor. The Breakers first ever win in the NBL was in their first NBL game against us there, I can still remember the embarrassment I felt then 12 years later.

8 wins in a row for the 36ers bloody fantastic!

Wollongong Hawks veteran big man Adam Ballinger has announced he will retire at the end of the season ending his 12 year career in the NBL. He was a star in his 5 years here with the 36ers and I still remember him scoring 40 in his first NBL game for the Victoria Giants. From all reports a great guy on and off the court Balls says his three children were born in three different Australian cities.

Perhaps fitting that his final NBL game will be against the 36ers Sunday week.

Melb Utd should be ashamed of themselves. Loaded roster with a lot of individual talent they never gelled and then dished up that gutless performance in Cairns last night with their season on the line.

The NBL TV broadcasts need to have a clock that shows the tenths of seconds remaining. Also actually have it synced up with the in-game clock. Can see in that replay that Jackson got it away in time but would've been very confusing/frustrating for anyone watching the broadcast.

Went a long way with the ball for the time remaining. I know it could have been as much as 1.99 seconds left but that looked like over 2 seconds from when he first touched it to when it left his hand.

Good news about the return of a Brisbane based team in the NBL again next season:

AN NBL legend and one of Australia's richest families are set to bring the Brisbane Bullets back to life.

Basketball great Larry Sengstock and businessman Paul Bendat are two of the directors listed under the company name "Brisbane Bullets Basketball Pty Ltd" which was registered with ASIC on January 8 this year.

Bendat’s father, Jack, is the owner of the Perth Wildcats and was No.70 on the 2014 BRW Rich List with an estimated fortune of $675 million.
