Zampa 4/18 (10)

Tait 2/39 (10) inc 2/17 off his last 7 overs

If only the batters had done their bit

Hartley's selfish innings comes to end after chewing a 3rd of their allocated balls to make 50.

Really shits me

Its a fricken disgrace playing these games as so early in the morning in Queensland. Why bother playing them at all. May as well just have the toss and get on the cans. Does nothing for the development of Aussie players either batsman or bowlers, nobody wins

It does nothing for the development of batsman or bowlers?

Why?

Its an hour earlier than they would start at test level?

I see what Daysofourlives is on about

The earlier the start the probability of dampness on the pitch increases
This in all probability gives the bowlers assistance

Results so far
I dont know if they are all early starts [can someone let me know if they are all early morning starts]
8 games played , 7 sides batting 2nd won the matches

WIN TOSS AND FIELD FIRST
5 times the winner of the toss sent the opposition in [and 4 times won the match batting 2nd]
The opposition batting first had these starts with the fall of their first 3 wickets
SA 3/23 [224]
VI 3/31 [111]
SA 3/23[147]
TA 3/63 [287]
TA 3/8 [62]

Without seeing the games , it would seem that there might be early assistance for the bowling teams ????
This is not a current phenomenon , early starts in the past , on enough occasions , have proved to be harder to bat on then the sides batting 2nd

Hence, these early starting games are not always played on an even playing field

As an opening batsman , playing on turf for my school last century
I noticed how much harder it was to bat in games starting at about 9:00am [a combo of the new ball, and dampness]
I always noticed the sting in the pitch was less batting later in the morning

Were going in without 6 first choice players, Hughes, Botha, Richardson, ludeman, putland and Sayers. Not confident at all.

Anyone know why McDonald fails to make an appearance? 2 from 10 in the shield, 0 from 16 in t20 and 3 from 9 in ryobi since coming to south Australia. That's 11 days cricket out of 65. #flop #poorrecruit

Haha how about you be less condescending.

I understand your point about the starting time but batsmen need to be able to adjust and get through the tough early stages, Everything in cricket these days favours the batsmen, the bats, the boundaries, the power plays, the pitches so in this instant i do not mind the early start that gives the bowling team a slight advantage.

I agree that a 10.30 start would be better, but i do not see it as a huge issue

Maybe that says something about the development of batsmen these days and how used to easy hard batting paradise wickets they are instead of the early start?
