Will the club be able to afford match payments after the footy club spent the whole town's budget on trying to win a B grade flag?

Don't know how you work that out when the footy and cricket have nothing to do with each other!!

Will probably end up at Freeling, despite earlier reports, they do have cap space and with the earlier than expected exit of their B grade football team the CC has once again found itself with a war chest of the town's pennies.
For the benefit of opposition cricket clubs i really hope their football team starts making grand finals real soon

With the season only a couple of days away what are peoples thoughts on the season. Personally im stoked the association decided on the new one day format of as soon as the runs are passed its game over with bonus points awarded. Should make for some more exciting cricket.

What are some of the clubs ins and outs?
What are peoples early predictions on top 4 etc?

Sandy have lost Bomber and a couple others through the grades, but they have had a couple new guys sign on for the year and also promoting some youth into the top two grades. Looking forward to playing on Saturday alongside 14 year old Daniel Koch.

My top 4 prediction (going on the playing personnel from last year)will be:
Ango - the addition of Greg Bain will help win more games
Freeling - will always be strong, will be interested to see if Raed is playing the whole season
GV - will be at the top again, have a really good crop of young bowlers coming through
Sandy - Frampton will be better for the run last year and im expecting Chris McLean to turn it on

Goodluck to all other sides for the season, look forward to having a drink after a hard fought Saturday with you all

reckon the bonus point is a great idea. going for the runs in 20 overs could make or break a season! and lets face it, nobody wants to be out there after you have already lost, basically just playing for time.

Competition remains the Barossa and Light Cricket Association. The proposal to change to the Barossa, Light and Gawler CA was defeated, well actually it was smashed.
Introduction of bonus points to all one day games of the two day comp A1-A3 meaning the games are completed when the score is passed.
performance points are still awarded with the following bonus points
Pass the score by the 35th over 0.5 bonus
30th - 1.0 bonus
25th - 1.5 bonus
20th 2.0 bonus points.

Morgan accepted as a full member of the association in its own right.

are there any bonus points for bowling a team out early, or restricting them to a score well below your own?

No they are compensation points in reality.
For instance you pass the score inside 30 overs you are getting given equivalent of 100 runs to walk off early.
No need to have them for bowling out a side early as you have had your opportunity to bat for your full 40 overs and you are still getting your 2 points for taking 10 wickets (0.2per wicket)

couple examples that probably best explain why
bat first and make 250, bowl opp out for 150 = 14.50points
Bowl opp out for 150, get runs inside 30 overs = 14.50points

Fair enough. This system does change the amount of points the losing team gets though, as they wont get points for taking wickets after the loss. They is relatively minor though.

Yeah thats right but they probably dont deserve them either. Cant have points and early beers when you lose.

With the side we have in tomorrow im hoping the captain wins the toss, bats, we get our 50 out the way and they get them in 5 overs, should only miss a couple races

Yeah Days that's the one. Very handy for them. Will score well in this comp. he should bat top 3 for them. Watched him play from a junior all the way to now. Scored a double ton in juniors. Be a very close comp this year I reckon. Roll on round 1. Goodluck all!!
