Princess Di Concert thing

Postby zipzap » Tue Jul 03, 2007 12:11 am

Gawd what a steaming pile of horse manure. Sat through nearly 3 hours of self-righteous interminable shite just to see Ricky Gervais and they didn't show his bit!

The only amusing thing was picking the hilariously inappropriate tunes. Kanye West's 'Gold Digger'? Well, yes she was Kanye. A 'Maneater' you say Nelly Furtado? Yep, by all accounts Squidqy and Dody thought so. And Bryan Ferry's plea for her to honour her vows and 'Let's Stick Together' was so very very wrong considering.

EDIT: OMG I just watched Ricky Gervais on youtube. He did 'Free Love Freeway' with Gareth doing the "She's dead..." chorus! That takes the cake!

i didn't see the entire show, but from what i saw on the news, it just didn't seem like a well put together show.

Also from the news stories.... i gathered there was more focus on william and harry and the girls they were sitting with rather than the concert itself. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Poor form zipper,no need to refer to her as a 'Gold digger' or 'Maneater'.Poor form indeed.

Even 10 years after her tragic passing.

Bit ill informed too ZipZap. Nver a fan of hers, you couldn't call her a gold digger. She came from an extremely wealth family, father is Earl Spence and mum was Shand Kydd. don't think money was ever an issue.

Sorry to offend the monarchists on this site. Gold Digger maybe not, but Maneater? Come on! Will and step-brother Harry clearly looked like they enjoyed 'Wild Boys' anyway. ;)

Everybody sing: "Hot love on the Freelove Freeway...(she's dead...)"

I reckon Ricky would've enjoyed the salacious irony of singing that song at that concert.

It was horrible what I saw of it btw. People sitting there gawping. With those performers - that crowd should have been seething. But it just wasn't that kind of show.

That sounds grim. Maybe it's best I missed that one.

Honestly, sorry to offend anyone but I was just commenting on what I thought were some fairly inappropriate song choices at a fairly inappropriate event.

I was more interested in Prince William and Harry's chicks.
I've been to funerals where i've been looking at girls rather than grieving, let alone a ten year memorial.
I remember the day she died.
Vividly.
The crows lost by four points to Essendon in round 22.
THAT was the tragedy.
I can't say the concert would have entertained me like the cricket, but a few shots of some girls livens up the spectacle.
Stop being such a pack of saps.
It wasn't your mum.
It wasn't designed to disrespect anyone, and if william and harry complained, feel free to, otherwise, accept the fact that flashing the occaisional glimpse of a babe on the screen sells more than average performances from average performers.

If they chose artists to sing "wind beneath my wings" or "tears in heaven" everyone would be saying the concert was soppy crap!! I dont think Harry and Wills would have even thought that gold digger would somehow "incriminate" a charity concert for by all accounts was an amazing lady. I enjoyed it, not my taste p diddy or nelly furtardo but still wasnt bad watching. I thought Fergies legs were worth waiting 3 hours for- Very impressive
