Renmark's Shane Kenney broke his neck in a marking contest against Waikerie on Saturday.
Kenney was airlifted to hospital on Adelaide on Saturday night.
By the sounds of it he won't play again....

Normally plays CHB, but played off a back flank against you last time Catfish.
Stretcher, neck brace all brought out, was pretty scary at the time, because none of us on the sideline knew exactly what was going on.
Boy had some talent too.

What an absolute tragedy for Shane, his family & the Renmark FC... was very sorry to hear of this unfortunate accident. He is a top bloke & from all reports was really enjoying his time up there with Buckers, can only hope for a full & speedy recovery.

Apparently just one of those freak things that can happen in a contest, nothing sinister in it at all & from what I hear is lucky to have not done far greater damage (the type that is permanent!)

No sorry mate.
All I know is he is in hospital and it doesn't look like he'll play again.
He is a good bloke too. Real shame.

Na, nothing sinister at all.
Just a marking contest gone wrong.
Actually saw it happen and didn't really think much of it until Shane didn't get up....

Best of luck to the RFC in dealing with this. Can be tough on players.
A real reminder of the things that can happen to any of us.

Paringa's Pres is a player David Kiely. There's a fair emnity between those two clubs.

Haven't heard anything about it though TR. I'm sure BD has though....

What's the story?

Paringa pres Dave Kiely reported by goal umpire (Cobdogla pres Bob Vogt funnily enough).
Allegedly hit Shaun Williams in the ribs and then a haymaker to the head.
The punches then led to an all-in brawl.
Really, really, really, really wish I was involved.....
