Rooney is just not meant to score... Straight at muslera from 7 yards out

Rooney is a liability at the moment, but he's not the only one out there...

(As I'm typing that he scores... always works)

Poms will be cheering on Italy now. Anything less than a win by Italy and England are out

But we always lose.

Losing should not be accepted as playing well.

Get tougher guys.

Once a loss is acceptable, you're a loser.

We can be happy with developing, but not with losing.

Agree but think it is part of the development process

It was an extremly young side (possibly youngest at World Cup) and there was a general thought they were going to get smashed.

The first step for them imho is to know that they can compete with the worlds best (box ticked)

The next development stage is to turn those half chances against the world best into victories

I didn't think we would score a single goal! To have chances to win the game is good enough for me as it shows were are not that bad.

Lacking a world class defender or 2 and some polish in front of the posts. Hopefully some of the bigger resourced clubs take on some of our players to develop them further and be in a good position to take the Asian Cup at home.

The way I look at it

2006- where I want to be, I think Australia should be getting to the round of 16 more times than not, it was the best australian side we have ever had

2010- one really poor game cost us a round of 16 spot, imho that team under performed

2014- very young squad didnt qualify very well which put them in an extremly tough group, for a young side they have performed above themselves imho, which as a soccer diehard is all I can ask for. They way we have performed we probably would have got to R16 in about 4 of the other groups.

2018- this current squad has to stick together, we need to qualify as the top seed and get a group we can get out of. Round of 16 is a must at next world cup

People that expect us to be soccer powerhouse are kidding themselves. We are a tiny population and even then half our kids growing up couldn't care less for the round ball. We are probably one of the handful of countries in the world where soccer would rate as its 4-5 most popular sport
