No, he was just doing what he had to do, based on the opposition. Milne isn't a pigeon-holed Ruckman, can play forward, now back and of course in ruck. Flexibility is a good thing. Milne's opponent only really kicked 2 or 3 directly on him, the others were as a result of turnovers from Central's poor skill level.Apachebulldog wrote:Was Lairdy experimenting with his players has he realised the Dogs will not make the finals this year ??? or was just it stupid coaching ????

Never seen the lad play but hearing huge wraps. How old? AFL an option or should I say achievable?

Was Lairdy experimenting with his players has he realised the Dogs will not make the finals this year ??? or was just it stupid coaching ??????? also seemed to be a lot of confusion at the interchange ????
Dogs skills still very disappointing !!!
For me if the Dogs can win 4 to 6 games this year it will be a milestone.
What do other doggy supporters at the game thoughts on this debacle ??????

Agreed the umpiring was diabolical but our discipline was ordinary too. I am loath to criticise Miles, he is a fantastic player who is playing under great duress at the moment, but it was ridiculous for him to go off his tree and give away a free for abuse which directly cost us a goal and put Central within 5 points. The mark for which he wasn't paid was so unbelievable an effort that the umpire probably incorrectly believed that it must have bounced. And as for O'Brien, who is also playing under duress, it was equally ridiculous of him to push the Central player over after he "fainted" and was awarded the free. Instead of kicking from 75 metres he kicked from 50 and Central goaled from that play. Poor umpiring but even worse discipline.
I am non plussed as to how Thiele wasn't awarded a free in the goal square in the last couple of minutes, but I reiterate if our discipline was better we still would have won.

Obviously you missed the the great acting by 31 for you to get a free kick and goal. Also the Thiele one in the goal square happened right in front of me. He was playing for the free kick. Both players were holding on to one another and then Thiele through his arms back for a free. Meanwhile Nason ran off and went for the ball. If Thiele had also done that it may have stayed in the area and given you guys another chance at goal.
Then there was the ridiculous free that 36 was paid for a push in the back that was no where near in the back. It was a great use of the body in a marking competition. Take off your red and white blinkers. The umpiring was terrible but it didn't favour anyone.

Was any contact made by the Central player in the contest no matter how minute?
So he went over the mark before the umpire called play on?
Bit confused by your post as it sounds like the umpire was 100% in the right.

I can't remember the free kick, but after that the North player ran 5-10 directly to his right, Williams followed around on the exact same angle and was then penalised 25m for encroaching the mark
